Hello, all. I'm usually not on much anymore, but i think that ccp is doing a great job on dust.
Rattati has created a development roadmap that is feasible, and gives us players a reason to stick around. As far s i have seen, CCP rattati has not backed out of anything he has said on the forums thus far, so that gives this merc more than a glimpse of hope for the future of dust. As far as the feature go, ccp is most certainly listening to players' demands and executing them with precision.
So i ask. Why does ccp (dust division) get all the hate it does?
rattati has got his sh!t straight. Features are being added at a breakneck rate. Everything is being balanced to achieve greatness.
And on top of that, players are leaving.
I just don't understand.
There is a reason you never see me in battle.

Some, like BAMM, are counting on their rustled jimmies netting them YouTube views. And other players are just impossible to please for whatever reason.
Dust 514 has been improving, it's true. We are getting patches and hotfixes. The game is obviously making CCP a little money or they wouldn't be devoting time and resources towards it. Games that make companies money stick around.
The only way they could make me happier is getting this game off of the PS3. Would rather them move to PC, but I would take the PS4 at this point. The PS3 is a fossil and I hate it.
My advice to you, playa...

....No. So far they do not, because there has been no improvement in this game. Players in this game have had the same kind of badly designed maps for a year's worth of time. A geographical feature does not work as a map. A month is not a breackneck rate NOTHING is balanced, because if this were the case, you would be able to excel with any kind of gear regardless of tier, but you don't. You need level 5 this and that, advanced and proto etc just for basic survival. Dedicated vehicle users, dedicated AVers, redline campers and scouts have been exploiting unpractical, and unhandicapped disproportionate stats for MONTHS, and haven't gotten any punishment or prevention from them. Infantry and vehicle skill trees STILL have major and useless SP sinks that sets back players to a point where getting things everyone should be able to get straight up take at least a week, a month, or even years time altogether to get. There have been bugs that have stood here for months. The most of which we're getting is tiny tweaks that slowly, but surely make our gameplay more annoying, like this unnecessary tacnet direction indicator removal, and ob spam. The buff/nerf cycle is STILL being repeated for things, and tiered items STILL don't have any handicaps to prevent them from being abused in any way. The wide majority of suits and vehicles STILL don't have a practical skill bonus or assigned role, either
If you seriously think progress is being made, you are suffering from delusions.

I'm going to agree to disagree the mechanics of Dust are better since Rattati has stepped in but the core of the game is still complete **** Controls, FPS/Latency performance, hit detection (core problems) are still a thorn in the side of Dust.
Now, before all the fanboys start kneckbearding all over their keyboard hear me out. Dust went from 4.5k concurrent sometimes 6k during Chromosome, some vets believe that to be the golden years of Dust. Controls weren't great but nowhere near as bad as what we have currently, there were never FPS issues, latency sure but it was only on certain players as normal in online games. Did we have balance issues of course but it was getting there and a lot closer then what it is currently imo..
That was till reviews came out bashing the graphic so CCP decided to get a wild hair up their ass and "improve" the graphics. Along this same time line (correct me if im wrong, memory is a little fuzy on exact details) CCP Wolfman decided to tweak or change the control system. Biggest change that I can remember that the community absolutely couldn't stand. Here brought Uprising, which also brought reviewers to step back in for a new peek at the updated graphics and overall improvements. Reviews were harsh only complimenting the slight increase in graphics and the shiny yellow textures added to everything. Reviewers and community felt damn near the same way outside of the few dedicated fanboys that still exist today.
Concurrent users started to drop quick as (core problems started to shine due to Uprising) FPS lag, latency, disconnects, hit detection issues for months the infamous blue shield hit markers, patch after patch of attempts at fixing the uprising disaster. Controls went from no aim assist, full on aim-assist to even anti-aim assist, players were getting stuck like maps were made out of fly paper. More players left not to mention the insult to injury that was the lag fest that planetary conquest soon became and also the tipping point for a lot of veteran players to jump ship. Don't forget as well CCP as a company calling Dust dead in the water because of the PS3 system announcing Legion at Fanfest then having very little transparency on the life of either title..
The reason I give a small, possibly misinterpreted history lesson is because some of the core problems eventually got repaired the ones that didn't people just got used to and accepted and still exist to this day. So for people to say the game is improving are really missing the core reason people left in the first place. We didn't go from 5k concurrent down to barely 3k because of no cash grab lock boxes and lacking ewar meta... We dropped and continue to drop because the core aspect of Dust is under performing competition out there and has since Uprising IMO..
TLDR: People aren't going to give Dust CCP some love till they see progress on the issues that have plagued Dust from the start or scrap the entire thing and give us the game we all love on a next Gen system were it's capable to run at its peak and be the game we all know it was meant to be. Not this triple booster roll of the dice drop system for hard earned cash..

Small history but good enough indeed, and as the accuracy goes it's accurate enough honestly. Uprising looked so much better than Chromosome but ya there was so many problems. I even remember Pyrex making a video to try to counter all the hate that was on the forums around that time ( http://youtu.be/t2nWNZfKFSI ) . Some people recommended shutting down the game till many of the annoying and major problems got fixed ( can't find it for some reason and it's in my favorites ).
I won't give CCP any love or my money until they get Legion out on the platform that dust 514 development would've gone much much smoother and looked much much better (PC). These patches for dust are nice but a waste of time unless these are all tests for Legion.
Should Legion be on the ps4?

Show me a multi-player FPS that doesn't have some issues with latency....
The UT engine simply reverses the advantage that other engines have (for instance in BF where low ping wins).
None are immune because asymetrical latency (and packet loss) between client and server is for all intents and purposes impossible to solve for in netcode -- and that's the challenge. |

There are no cures for some deseases, but the practice of medicine on these patients continues.
Crime will never be erradicated, but we have legal structures.
UDP circa 1982 has to be used, but mitigation via regions, lagger servers, decreasing game functionality for high latency as a penalty-any thoughts CCP?

The hate is not focused on the current Dust development team but rather on the previous Dust leadership that worked on the game prior to Rattati taking control. The old leadership made too many promises but only delivered a smidgen of those promises and even then much of what they delivered was out of balance or broken. The new leadership, however, is a vast improvement. Constantly delivering on almost all of their promises, balancing the game at an unheardof rate, and expanding on their communications with the community.
From the looks of it, after everything the new leadership has done, it seems Dust 514 is now CCP's secondary cash cow which is a good thing because this means more money for development and the game is no longer dependent on any Research & Development budgets.
On Twitter: @HilmarVeigar #greenlightlegion #dust514 players are waiting.
