It was a half assed solution to appease the "gamer for life" people who live on government money and can afford only basicinternet. Hence all the "lag complaints" from people with 9.99$ a month 0.5mbps internet. Its also a way to nerf solo gameplay, as it infuriates the tryhards that they had to squad up to survive but someone else was able to prosper.
CCP makes its decisions based on information from the CPM, a group of people hostile to anyone who is not a slayer in a squad. There is a bug presently that gives everyone low bandwidth, but once its fixed, youll be able to lay out more stuff....as long as you wear a ADV or Proto suit. And you cant switch out of said suit either.
So instead of going around making sure your team can spawn and fight, youll have to go put out your equipment and then find a way to look out for yourself and your wallet the rest of the game.

I dont know what else to say to get it to sink in, so ill try again....people would rather lose, get stomped, not have fun, quit the game, ect than hang out with the people in your squads.
They dont want to talk to you, they dont want to know you, they dont want to hear your voice, or hear your music, or hear you smoke weed or take part in your little pseudo military jargon. As far as you are concerned, you are nothing more than a human animated hitbox.
So fuckoff already with the constant "well just join a squad". Joining a squad is NOT an option for me and others. It goes deeper than "i dont have a mic". I do have a mic, i just have no desire to interact with anyone. Im not here to make friends, im here to play the game casually time to time.
The day i have no friends in real life and nothing left to do with my life, ill join a squad and play make believe soldier. Until then, why dont you respect the fact that I CHOSE to go solo after considering all options. If you have fun ganging up with 5 other people to got 6vs1 a new player, go ahead. Whatever makes you feel good about yourself. But just leave the rest of us in peace. Dont want squads, dont need them, getting really tired of being told to join them. |

I respect that you CHOSE to play solo and don't want to make friends, but when you CHOSE this play style you are missing out on so many things that make joining squads better. You are playing a game that revolves around infantry tactics and controlling a battlefield. In a squad you are better able to assist the team as a whole because you have a better balance of equipment spread between more people, better communication, and more effective coordination of movement.
Its not fair to the squad though to have someone like me in it who doesn't even want to be in it. I dont have the time or the will to be a dedicated player. Im not interested in communicating and becoming "the best solider ever" blah blah. I got a few hours to kill and want to play a videogame.
the only time i ever join a squad is when Im trying to get into Gal FW, and even at that, if its a squad thats talking or giving orders ill leave or turn off the voicechat and just do my own thing. Im not here to become part of some crazy cohesive fighting unit. For me, this is just a game. |

I get squad invites all the time after games. Most i ignore, but if its from someone I saw doing good all game ill take the time to send them a letter saying "No thanks, I play solo". Im just not interested in squad play. Not the tactical aspect, not the social aspect, none of it. Its just not for me.
The only time Ill ever squad up is when I want to get into Gal FW with less queue time. And even at that, ill tell them strait up that im just a solo player catching a ride to the match. They cannot and shouldn't count on me for anything. Sometimes I get lucky and its just 5 other solo players doing what im doing. |

I seriously couldn't laugh any harder at your post. I'm going to address these,
You got the first part of what a logi does right, you seem confused about the second. See green berries are reliable and you can actually call them for assistance unlike blueberries. I shouldn't have to explain why that might help you survive in a logi suit.
You were too busy laughing to even begin to understand what im saying. I dont want help. All the advantages of a squad are ruined by the major disadvantage; I have to hear other people. Nevermind the fact that I would rather hear either my music or the game noise.
Pvt Numnutz wrote:Sounds like the only one who is trying hard is you.
I like to be incharge of my own fate, and I want to bear the full rewards/consequences for my actions. You know what people do in squads? Blame everyone but themselves. (lag, noob, op, glitch, scout ect ect ect). I can do without the "poor me" attitude pervasive in squads.
Pvt Numnutz wrote:You should want squads because not only does it make the game more enjoyable but also makes the tactical, chess like, squad based combat of dust shine. If you are a logi you do need them, your role is Dependant on them. If you are a logi, and complaining, and being told to join a squad and refusing you either don't know how to be a logi or you aren't a logi.
I have a problem with being told what to do in real life. Why the hell would I log onto a videogame to be told what to do? Following orders is not playing chess. Sending a mob to go overwhelm a guy in a milita suit is not playing chess. Chess, which is usually played solo by the way, is a game about strategic moves where each one brings its own rewards anc consequences, some of which surface later on.
Proto squads camping my redline is not Chess. Its more like some kind of high school fight where everyone shows up in groups cause they are too afraid to get a beating if they roll solo.
Pvt Numnutz wrote:Logis have a role now, if you want to use equipment like a logi then you have to BE a logi and be dedicated to the ROLE of a logi. What's that? "That nerfs solo play tho!" No sh-ít! Because now you can't be a slayer AND a logi, you can't just spam equipment and switch back to your scout or heavy.
Dust and eve are both games of cooperation, you work with people, they don't have to be your best friends but two pairs of hands is better than one and can get more accomplished. If you don't understand this then you don't understand the role of the logi and should go buy a respec right now and skill out of it! Seriously. Do it.
You may not realize this, but not everyone is a bandwagoneer who does everything they can to fit in. If thats what you consider doing logi work, then good for you, play that way. My complaints were mostly about the prohibitive cost of remote bandwidth. I dont like to live inside the box using standard procedures. Im a mercenary, not a drone.
Let me just finish what im trying to say so that its crystal clear: I would rather quit playing the game than be in a squad with people like you. I have no intentions of quitting, so that hopefully ends the discussion about me being in a squad. |

It's funny how you don't like being generalised as not having a mic etc but then you generalise that the people without antisocial behavioural disorders/issues have no friends or life.
Congratulations and here's a gold star.

That should make up for all the gold stars you never got as a child.
Now, tell us all about your mental issues and what meds you are on.
K den.
All im trying to do is get my point accross that being in a squad should be, and is, a choice not a requirement. My comments may be harsh, but all im trying to do is move past the "just join a squad bro" as the solution to all problems. Im just showing that "join a squad" is entirely ruled out. This is so people can go back to the drawing board and come up with a better solution.
All I want is equality. Im going to have to keep being harsh until people understand that running solo is a choice and not just a lack of knowledge about squads. Maybe you find me disrespectful, but the thing is, respect is a 2 way street, and i haven't gotten any in regards to my solo choice, so im not keen to give any out. Its simple; Respect the way I choose to play the game, and ill respect the way you choose to play.
Yes, the thread is kind of derailed. However, someone made a post directed at me, so i replied. I feel that is a better solution than making an entire new thread just to reply to one post that challenged what I said.
