Has expressed an interest in playing an fps video game lately, I have got her to play quake, my all time favorite old fps, but my question to you is, what was your first major fps experience?

I still say DUST 514 has some better gameplay and some worse gameplay.

Mine would have been CS a very long time ago using the LAN at highschool....hell even further back the first FPS I played was Space Invaders right after computers were put in our school way way back in the late 90's....
First FPS I cared about was Starwars BF (yeah I went FPS) or MAG.

For those who don't know though, EF is basically a reskinned Quake 3.

I want to say Metroid Prime, but I don't know if Duck Hunt counts XD
To this day Metroid Prime is my favorite game of all time, probably have played through it at least 20 times no joke.
If you mean first online multiplayer FPS...it would be Resistance Fall of Man (the first one)
The first one I dedicated a large amount of my life to: CoD WaW (only got it for **** zombies, but played a lot of competitive too)
Before Dust 514 I played Resistance 2 co-op religiously, and that's where I learned a lot of my current FPS skills, except that I mainly played medic and didn't actually develop gungame until I played Dust lol
Always been a co-op/team guy

Single player would be either Wolfenstein 3d or Doom, can't remember which I played first.
Online would be Quake, lot of nostalgia for that game and the [CKA].

Back when CoD was good, this was a great PS2 Game.

My first FPSs were Goldeneye and Metriod Prime, which I definitely recommend if you would like to know the basics of FPS gameplay.

Hence why i picked up the game so quickly...i didn't have to get used to different controls and mechanics. It seems normal
Also why my K/D was under 0.8 for the first 15 months of my dust career...until i picked up the scout and picked up some gun game.
My mercenary peaked after several days with K/D's of over 15, some cases i never died.
'Tis making me sad!!!!!!!! 
P.s don't give me hate about the K/D 15 thing. It isn't like it was against a japanese corp or anything...
My to-do list when i return to dust:
Logi my own way to an OB, and never use the cloak on my minja!
And have some ISK!

First FPS experience: Call of Duty: Finest Hour.
Played this game as a kid, and I loved it.
First FPS experience in multiplayer: Combat Arms.
There's nothing more frightening then an angry Shotty Galmando charging at you in the most tiniest CQC area.

Wolfenstein for me as well, but I do remember some pc game in mid 80's that was a tank style fps, I always thought it was called artic fox, or artic wolf, thunder, something like that. Too long ago, I just remember it was before wolfenstein, it wasn't gun in hand it was a ship/tank. But it was fps. |

First fps? AvP 1999 on the PC. Scariest. Game. Ever. Well, when you play as the Marine at least. Turn the lights off, put some headphones on, and prepare to **** yourself.

played castle wolfenstien when i was a teenager, i had to beg my friend to play about a half hour at a time- "i dont want to burnout my computer"... no mouse support just the cursor keys and hitting spacebar. he got doom about a month later, he was even more stingy with that.
i guess i played wing commander before that if you could consider it FPS. i remember we didnt have a joystick and it was pretty fail trying to fly a space fighter with keyboard. it was really a golden era there was no words to describe how it felt to have these kind of games being introduced, it was like the PS4 being released except with games you were more excited about, because they were truly groundbreaking, going from mostly side scrollers and top downs to true 3D. it was a very exciting time for gaming.
