I have always had a soft spot in my heart for putting poors into an area and watching them fight to the death for my ISK so i am thinking about starting a little event to see how things.
I have a PC district that is free for me to use so I thought I would do something fun with it. This thread is to discuss the rules and structure of how things will work. I would like some advice to maybe figure out the best and most entertaining way of doing this.
Prize to winning team: 100Mil ISK from my personal wallet will also take donations and hopefully have sponsership from corporations to increase the prize pool. The prize will be split in half each half given to each members of the winning team.
Teams: 7(14 players total, 2 per team) Each team must be in the same corporation with a limit of one corp per game. There will be a limited spots for alliance per game also, depending on how many interested team there are. Reason for 7 teams not 8 is i will have to ferrier everyone in and transport them via drop ship to starting location. Everyone will be on the same team so you will kill friendlies, doing this because i don't want a team running to the hills to snipe and never be found.
Restrictions and conditions: To make it a bit more simple and streamline players I want to have only 'APEX' suits to be used. After the first death you are done. Do not spawn in do not interfere and wait till the game is over. This should be quick i am assuming, after the first game rules might change to maybe have 5 deaths or so. All depends on how things work out. Supply depot may not be used to switch out drop suits, you will die in the APEX suit you spawned in with.
Deployment: The map is cargo hub, Rings in the city, Tall tower one. There will be no restrictions where the players can go within the map. Can stay in the city or run outside and do whatever, you will be found as everyone is on the same team. Teams will spawn individuals and be transported to the city to predetermined locations and wait till all team are in there place.
Extra stuff: Since all the teams will on the same team the other side will be empty. What i am thinking of doing is providing the spots of that team to spectators and people with youtube channels to record the game. Without interfering, People willing to record and post the games on there youtube channel will be allowed in for free to record. Spectators will have to pay some ISK to get in and watch, the ISK they pay would be added to the prize pot. The spectators will be free to run around, they must do there best to stay out of the way, they can not shot anyone and the participating in the game will be allowed to freely kill them if they get in there way.
Sponsors: Along side donations hopefully if this is successful it can gain corp/service sponsors for a price your corp recruitment ad will be added to the official Dust 514 Hunger Games sponsor list.
Timing: Right now i am thinking monthly or bi-monthly Saturday evenings.
Suggestions are welcome at this time.

Then people like me who will never own an APEX suit can play. You can't edit APEX suits that's the main point behind it. They also have more EHP so they will live longer and fight longer. More entertaining

Tell me about sponsoring.
May I watch if it's all APEX? I'm working on a youtube set up right now, but I can't promise it'll be recorded (As I have to struggle to get the $$$ to buy the EQ. I'd rather worry about my family eating instead of starving them for youtube.)
The price for spectating?
I can not see this going well for anything that isn't a Logi or Sent... Maybe some restrictions as of what suits can be worn after getting to the Supply Depot?
Any consequence for killing an ally?
Some teams might be put on the roofs, good spot for a assault or commando not everyone will be placed ground level.

Also as long as Viktor is fine with this I will add 10 million ISK to the winner if they are using an Amarr suit. That's also been on my mind people and sponsors putting up conditional prizes.
Examples: If a winner wins while wearing an Amarr/gal/Cal/min suit x corporation will award him x amount of ISK
Or if both teammates are alive at the end they get a 10mil bonus Each.
Things like that might be interesting

@ghost it going to be a bit hard for scouts since everyone can see I'm still thinking of ways to mitigate this. But i can only do so much due to game mechanics
@crimson the corp rule is not final.
Also everyone being on the same team has its up and it's down. One of the good is that is not needed as everyone is on the same team and can see each others position.

This thread is more of the lay the ground work and explain the basic rules in order to put them up for debate. Although nothing is finalized and still in development process I do fully intend to this event. You pick your own team so find a partner in your corp you would be interested in doing this event with and please share this thread with your friends and corpmates. I want this to be a monthly/bi-monthly thing so there will be rotating in teams playing.

The contestants should be on different teams. Once one team is eliminated then they will fight among their own. This doesn't completely fix the problem of constant map awareness, but it's slightly better.
The youtubers should be split into two groups each going to opposite sides and each wearing Quafe suits as to not get killed while filming.
Killing a journalist should be an automatic disqualification and forced suicide for that player.
The winner should also receive a picture of Jennifer Lawrence turned into canvas painting via any number of websites that do that.
First part about splitting the teams is pretty good and i'll take into consideration, but i fully intend for the youtubers to die. Not because i want to watch them die i just don't want the contestant worrying about killing anyone or anything. Pretty much if it moves you are allowed to kill it. It will be up to the youtubers and spectators to do there best to stay out of the way. They can ether dropship around and record from that angle(Might have found a good use for first person view on dropships). Or run around in super damped cloak scouts and try not to be spotted.
The contestants are not encouraged to kill the youtubers or spectators and get no reward for doing so. But you are allowed to because i don't want them to be worried whether the person they just saw was a contestant or a spectator. I want a blood bath, you see something move you kill it with fire. This will take the pressure of the contestants and let them do what they do best and will force the spectators to stay out of the way.

On the other hand the reason why everyone was set on the same team and spectators set on another is so when people are running around looking for kills everyone is on the minimap yes, but everyone who is there is a survior you must. You won't have to worry about trying to locate someone that is hiding at the enemy homepoint only when you get there to find out it is a afk spectator that just happens to be on your team. Yes scouts will have it a bit rough but they will just need to take advantage of their speed instead of Ewar. Scouts been having a field day for month. It will be alright if there is one event they don't exceed in ether. I would like to make it balanced and unbiased towards dropsuit roles but there is only so much i can do with the game mechanics. It hurts min scouts the most.... nova knifing will be impossible.
I would say it hurts Gal/Cal scouts the most as both there bonus are completely unusable. Min scouts can still run around and stab someone who is currently trying to kill someone from the other team and still have there knife bonuses work.
No matter what Gal/Cal scout does it can not use it's suit bonus.

Doesn't matter about editing starter fits, all that matters is the fit itself, and the militia weapons.
No rooftop camping, no vehicles. Just raw medium-to-medium combat. But that makes it fully competitive and eliminates the appeal of different teams using different tactics.
this is not meant to determine the best pure slayer. this is meant to find the most creative team and see a bunch of different tactics clash. I want to see logi/heavy team running around trying to keep each other alive. I want to see duel scouts cornering a enemy and taking them out with there speed. I want to watch a scout lure a contestant into the kill box of a rooftop commando.
Not meant to just see who can kill who the fastest, want to see who can be the most efficient and creative with there tactics in order to win.
There are so many APEX suits and so many team combinations you can make everything is standardized so you know everyone else is where suits within the same ballpark as you. I want to see what people can do with it.

Is there a limit to how many teams from each corp/alliance?
Also, what are the grounds for starting the match? You said that we'll be flown "there" in 2 dropships, but where is there? Is there a limit to where we can travel? Also, if we can call in our own vehicles this will mean that there could be some long drawn out battles.
What if one of the members of a team dies but the other survives and is the victor? do all the isk go to the survivor?
1. There is currently only one corp allowed per game.
2. There has not fully be determined yet right not it will be in the city and only the city. Spread around in 7 different locations. some on the ground, some on the roofs. After it starts you are allowed to travel anywhere the thing i am not to worried about people hiding outside as everyone will see them since they are on the same team. I am still thinking about how to avoid dropships being exploited.
3. The ISK will still go to both the teammates no matter which one survivors. The team is the winner not the personal player.

Well, why allow teams to call in vehicles at all? Why not set it up so that no one besides the Judges and observers can call in vehicles? Since we're restricted to APEX and LP BPO suits, why even allow vipers and balochs? there will be people on the roofs and there should be a way to get up to them and chase them away.

Yes the other roles will see each other and look for kills it will not be that great of a deal to be seen. People will see each other and kill each other. As much as I would love to bring in the idea of ewar scouts into play I don't believe the game mechanics will allow it.
I can't please all roles sadly as much as I would like to. So I'm trying to pick the greater good.

The True Inferno wrote:First of all, great job on the idea dude, I'd love to see this idea fully realised and driven to its full potential. Second of all, my suggestions:
- The reaping would be created by participants signing up to a district within their isk bracket, for example, players with 140 million isk+ would sign up for the 1st district, players with 140-130 million isk would sign up for the second district so on until you reach players with 10 million or less for district 14. 2 players would then be selected from each dristrict, though players cannot volunteer. Have, say, a 5 million sign-up fee for the districts and if your district wins, all people in that district would be rewarded say, 10-15 million.
- After the 2 players have been selected, they would under go training by a mentor for a few pubs with their chosen fit, try not to die the entire game, then later have their mentor hunt them down in FW.
- Instead of APEX suits, basic or militia should be used with only militia/basic items to be fitted on them, this would give the games a bit more 'flare' allowing more custumation than that the APEX suits.
- Tokens would take the forms of militia equipment and be limited to 1 token per player, this would have players have a hard choice between reps, ammo and revives, this would in turn create, during the game, things that the player would have to monitor and search for, as well as things for people to donate and would stop say, a heavy logi combo, with the logi giving everything reps, ammo and etc to the heavy.
- Sponsors would work by having people use their funds to purchase different tier nano hives for the tributes, which would be dropped near said tributes by a logistics suit in a dropsuit. For example a AVD nano hive with repairing would cost 30 million isk and if it were paid, a logistic suit with said item equipped would use a dropship to fly to the districts tribute and then deposited the hive. Another thing that could be purchased would be a nanite injectors and vehicles(such as LAVs and dropships, NO HAVS)
- The feast would be the placement of nano hives and perhaps redberries on the other team, which would, when killed, let a tribute on the same team as the person, respawn.
- Dropships, due to the advantages you could gain with them, should NOT be able to be called in by tributes.
- Creatures, such as the mutations from the actual games would be reberries in themed suits such as scouts that can only melee and speed-stacked sentinels with nova-knives.
That's some interesting stuff i'll read over and think about it and post a reply later today.

Can you see players guns that they are wielding in game, just like you can aim at turret on a tank and see what it is? but then there are problems with modules. no way to check those. I want to avoid all out hiding in a corner tactics, or max roof top camper. You can win this way if you fit your suit properly and do a **** ton of damage to people below you but part of the reason i want keep it apex suits is to avoid that. I don't see the interest in just having some guy on the rooftop all match with 3 complex damage mods charging a scrambler rifle. All apex suits are general combat fit and not very specified. So you can still on the a rooftop but you won't do as much damage.
With apex you know that whatever you are running the opponent is running the exact same thing. This way it kind of evens out some of the fittings complication for people and you can just focus on slaying.
I don't want this to really turn into a who can stack the most damage mods and pick people off while they run by competition, i want to see what people can do with the prefit suit given to them.

Just institute random checks by way of Eve OB drop. Any one killed by an Eve OB is free to spawn in and their fit is now public knowledge. Also no vehicles makes it a risky move to try to get a suit like you are talking about into position. There are going to be dropships for transportation. And people will be deployed or spawned on the highground. I don't mind people being there and fighting there its just that i don't want full gank suits camping there.

I think i might have a bridge map on one of my districts, so that might be an option instead of a city map. more room for assaults and commandos to do work.

This been put on hold until after PC change. When it was posted it was meant to be something that would bring interest to PC and was suppose to be a long running event. With the unexpected PC changes to come this is on hold. Because i really don't want to get everything organized just for one run.
Secondly, full time work and school is a pain in the ass.
Sorry for those that were looking forward to this.
