I've seen that the cross hair looks a lot more dim with the HUD transparency setting on. Is this something that I should worry about? I set the HUD transparency setting 20 because that's what it's at by default but does it affect the playing experience if I don't? What HUD transparency setting do you do, because I'm really worried that I am hurting my playing experience because I don't have it at 50% like I used to. I did notice that when it was at 0 again like it was in in the default I did notice that then it was a lot brighter and even got so bright especially with the crosshair that it almost felt like the crosshair was like overly bright and it was like hurting my eyes or something. Is it best to just leave the setting alone at 0? What's your opinion?
Salutations, TacticianSoldier! HUD transparency to me is just another example of PC-based developers designing for a Console-to-TV game title. I think it's not something you need to adjust if you fight with any of the person-v-person weaponry in the game. On the other hand, I think it is a SUPERB option to adjust if you play Dust under very special conditions:
If you are using S-video or composite signal cables, or a fuzzed tv monitor, and the 720dpi resolution becomes hard to make out small details,... you can turn transparency down toward ZERO, until you find a level that helps even the cross-hair of railgun turrets CLEARLY stand out against all the busy moving targets. I have also found that there is another setting, called "scale" that can work in conjunction with the transparency setting to make crosshairs and HUD less confusing to read when you happen not to have the 5-Star super perfect TV setup at your house.
If you are a dedicated VEHICLE driver, you don't necessarily want the HUD info blocking your clearest view of the road or overhead structures. I operate a transport dropship, and as long as I am using an HDMI picture quality, I want the HUD transparent as possible (up to 80 or so)----view of the terrain is more helpful to me than seeing crosshairs, since I'm transporting in the game way more than I'm ever shooting.
Universe of good wishes for the 49, especially CCP Eterne...
