Never, actually. I run by and melee it, and I'm out of the RE's range by the time it explodes.

I take out uplinks all the time and this has never happened to me..
I kind of want it to happen to me..
Taking out tanks and heavys, with a set of knives.

I have tried to melee a link. It didn't work. What am I missing.

Err, it doesn't work, I always melee links and when I see an explosion it does no damage.

Saw some guys shooting links and was like "idiots, your just wasting bullets" then I meleed one and went boom
They were like "idiot, your just wasting clones"
Moral of the story, look first then melee, or just flaylock it

After falling for it a few times, I started implementing it myself. Shotgunners and Nova Knifers always want to stand right on top of it. I love placing one of these and forgetting about it, then 2 or 3 minutes later a +50 Kill pops up on my screen. Great in Ambush especially against Nyain San. For some reason they LOVE getting up close and personal when they destroy uplinks and stuff. P.S. also works with Nanohives.

3 or 4 times. Not that many. I generally shoot them with a sidearm unless enemies are near and a more stealthy approach is called for. |

It does work, but not always, maybe dependent on RE placement and / or as someone else said, if you pop it at a trot.
I've heard them go off and not kill me, and I've been killed by them. Typically first time it happens in a match, I stop doing it like that.

I always flux uplinks when I have a flux on hand.
1. This prevents you from getting caught with your pants down because you're aiming down at the uplink if an enemy spawns out right then.
2. It allows you to aim at the the spawn in location so that you're on the ready if an enemy spawns right in front of you.
3. Always hold aim on the position until about 3 seconds have elapsed after the uplink has been destroyed, since spawns can still occur after uplink destruction.
I have never regretted doing this, as it has saved my life many times.

Got trapped only one time at the end of a battle where I did smt like 25-0.. Was kinda pissed atm, but I laugh when I think about it now ^^ |

often and its becomming more popular tho when bandwidth comes in itll be the end of that :|.. i liked people dieing while trying to melee my uplinks and i felt the fool when the same happened to me.

I do this all the time, I get atleast 1 person per game, and once, i got an entire squad with a remote hidden under a nanohive beside a CRU they were pushing.
i tell you this in all honesty....there is no more satisfying experience in Dust than setting a trapped uplink, getting killed by a scout near it, and then waiting gleefully while he sprints to the uplink to shotgun it only to give me a +50. Sometimes as a bonus only the remotes goes and not the uplink, so i can respawn and reset the trap.
Its also a nice slap to proto stompers. Leave some trapped equipment in a area as you retreat, and they might lose a protosuit or two. |
