The Spartan Assault suit needs a different sidearm. The ION pistol is a horrid weapon especialy if som1 is strafing.
I'd prefer an SMG but honestly ANY OTHER SIDEARM BUT THAT PISTOL WILL DO. (Besides nova knives assault to slow for that)

Im dead serious. You obviously havent fought a decent armor tanked heavy 1 on 1 with an Ion pistol.

Yes and no, the suits can be tweaked.
Using a shield weapon as primary AND Secondary is redundant, BUT I wouldnt mind CCP making another GALENTE sidearm that does armor damage

Looks like we have to change every one of the APEX suits then?
Not to mention we would have to break the racial theme on each suit, which ruins the point of having suits in the loyalty store using gear from their faction.(Which is the best part about them)

You're right, I typically try to avoid fighting enemies with a damage type they naturally resist.
But really, the APEX suits are not meant to be optimal, they're meant to fit the racial line as closely as possible. IoP is the only Gallente Sidearm, so that's what you're going to get. I suggest you train sharpshooter ASAP.

If I see a heavy of either tank the first thing i bring out is my IP. The IP charge is a heavy killer. It's an instant (one second charge) 315-385 damage based on armor/shields at the basic level, more towards shields if you've got some proficiency. And really it's kinda hard to miss. Just pop in and out of cover and they almost can't fight back.

That charge shot = OHK most Scouts
And I will presume there is a 200% Headshot DMG multiplier???
I have hit an Amarr Sentinel in the head with one charge and removed around 700 Armour
Imo the ION Pistol is a beast in CQC and some hit/run tactics.. if you flank and catch someone with a charge
then they can say goodbye to all shields and most a chunk of Armour too
Then if you condsider upcoming EWAR changes and the fact the IP is best used up close,
that Profile Damp may be a decent module for you.. SOON |

IoP is good if you have a long range weapon, other wide it's foolish to combine a short range weapon with a shorter range weapon. The best sidearms for a Gallente is magsec, bolt, msg, and flaylock.

wow do you people play dust or just sit on these forums? Go get into a firefight with a decent heavy switch to your basic IP and try to charge that stupid thing before he mows your ass down.
OR- Maybe you do get the charge off and hit him NOW your overheated- AGAIN he will have mowed your ass down.
That 1 shot overheat is too much downtime in a face to face gunfight, that crap all of you are spewing may work againts noobs in cheapsuits with no gungame but in a real fight your fcked.

It's good for after you ran out of ammo on your rifle, you take cover and charge your IoP.
Then you just unload the shot on the heavy instantly.
Considering how insanely damaging the HMG is, having the ability to drop that last bit of health while exposing yourself to that DPS as little as possible is quite useful.

Naw if you have skills maxed it is a competitive suit my first game with it I went 39-12 NOW 12 is alot of deaths, BUT it is a BPO lol

Against who though? I mean, don't get me wrong, some of the APEX fits are quite good, but aside from the heavies, the suits just can't compete with most custom fittings and are generally inferior to advanced or even basic suits with complex modules and gear. Not that such a fact is going to stop my usage as it's quite enjoyable not having to restock, but if I actually want to truly contribute to a match, I'm certainly not going to run an APEX.
