queue times are much shorter if you're not queuing solo. FW grabs bigger squads first and individuals last.

FW is only fun if you like squading up and using voice chat in game, but don't actually like playing dust. Every time I've effectively "played" FW it has involved fun/drunk/stoned conversations that are disrupted by a match once in a great while.
I agree with OP. Make it easier to get into matches. The 50% bonus to LP event is pointless if that is an extra 50% of zero. |

I don't care what it is, so long as we can actually play the game more than queue... they cannot merge as you lose standing when fighting for other factions.
i however have an idea.. 1. give pub matches FW style salvage.
2. then make it so players who sign up to pub matches can be used to populate FW matches if there is insufficient people.
3. players who signed up for Pub but get used to fill slots in FW still receive salvage but they get ISK instead of LP because that is probably why they signed up to pub in the first place, where as those who signed up for FW recive no ISK only LP.
4. the trigger for "insufficient people" would be has Mu/scotty put all the squads and solo players it can who signed up to FW on their respective teams? if yes and there is still room it uses players from public contract sign up to FILL THE GAPS.
5. perhaps allow us to lock ourselves to 1 faction so we can only fight for that one side.
now the main problem with this would be no FF in pub but FF in FW so my idea is more like this.. we have an "optional" checkbox we can use to accept being used to fill FW matches which will be OFF by default which saves the newbros and newberrys from being subject to proto-prolapsed-anus.. so only us older and more veteran players know of this option.
maybe make an auto tutorial/video pop up when they hit 5m or 10m SP or something as an "introduction to Faction war" which also tells the player about this "Opt-in" function to help populate FW.

I don't care what it is, so long as we can actually play the game more than queue... Agreed! Me and the titan guys I spoke to all agree! If the player base was larger we wouldn't have an issue but it's not I think they have to accept it and make the change. I waited in a full squad last night for 2 sets of ten minutes and nothing disappointing!

Yea its some messed up BS is you ask me.
One would think that a solo player would have a much easier time finding a single open spot in a FW battle right? When I am solo trying to get into Minmatar FW it can take 10,20 + mins and I still might never get into a battle.
However when I join somebody else's squad, we usually get in in a handful of mins.
Is it because I am in the UK? Hell even squads I host take forever. Its like I can only get into FW if I join somebody else's squad.

FW queue times are direct result of poor rewards. Giving the losing side a tiny standing bump will help remedy this. I'll just leave this here.

Faction Warfare is designed for more organized play and squads are intentionally picked up first. Also, if a faction is over populated because people are trying to dogpile because X faction is "easy" wins (true or imagined) the wait times also go up.
If you want to que into faction in under 5 mins join one of the faction warfare channels that players have made and get a synch going. Our wait time for Amarr was under 30 seconds on average.

FW is based on how many peopel are playing FW at the time, the only way to increase timers is to tweak the match making to just fil numbers as quick as possible whereas atm solo players are kinda being put to bottom of the que. the only guaranteed way to get faster times is to
1. Increase the amount of players in game (hahahaha) 2. Open more planets/districts for battles to take part in.
but even by doing these the playerbase still needs to have equal amount playing either side in order for a match to start. everyone is trying to get into min/gal atm because the other two races don' thave much to offer. Amarr is beginning to even out now the Sentinel is released but they're still gettign hit hard.
i huess with alterations to match making CCP could allow for battles to take place with lower numbers in order to speed up deployments but you could end up in games with 4 vs 4 (as a minimum) instead which at least may take longer but it allows players to at least get into a game and allow it to flll up as it goes with odds n ends.

A good thing to remember is that if you queue soon as you come out of a battle, the wait time is much shorter than if you do it 5 mins after you come out of a battle.

Good thought but FW doesn't use MU... so it would be a tiny bit unbalanced. (for the people who want balance)

I don't care what it is, so long as we can actually play the game more than queue... they cannot merge as you lose standing when fighting for other factions. I believe you only lose standing when you fight for the 'arch enemy' faction. So, for instance, you lose Gallente standing if you fight for Caldari.
What I'm suggesting is that Amarr and Caldari queues are merged, and Gallente and MInmatar queues are merged. So nobody would be in a fight that lost them standing with their favoured faction. |

As for a queue sync, when I've been in one queue times are still absurdly long, often to the point where one or both squads give up. |

Both of those are terrible choices.
Merging ques together removes your ability to fight for your Faction (the entire point of FW) while forcing you to fight for a Faction who's goals you don't agree with.
The 2nd option would cause people to quit DUST as there are several players who don't like Domination and Ambush, but have friends and squadmates who play for opposing factions.
---
There's nothing CCP can do to decrease the que times as it depends on how many players are participating. While they have tried their hardest to make FW appealing (BPOs, +50% LP, etc) most still refuse to play it.

This isn't prime time by any stretch, but you don't have these problems getting into dom or ambush. The reason is that the skirmish playerbase is split seven ways (Amarr, Caldari, Gallente, Minmatar, EU pub, America pub, Asia pub). There are players we COULD be playing with/against but they are trapped in different queues, so instead of playing, we're all waiting. |

There's nothing CCP can do to decrease the que times as it depends on how many players are participating. While they have tried their hardest to make FW appealing (BPOs, +50% LP, etc) most still refuse to play it. 1. If you're such a fanatical Amarrian (or whatever) you can always back out when you see the battle finder is putting you in a Caldari fight. So no one is 'forced to fight' for a faction other than their favourite. And anyway, it would actually be a positive thing to encourage (not force) Amarr and Caldari supporters to fight together (and Gallente and Minmatar). They are supposed to be allies, but there is nothing in the current iteration of FW that reflects this.
2. 'People who don't like dom or ambush and have friends from opposed factions' is such a niche within a niche that it can't really be put ahead of the fundamental health of the game. Pub skirmish itself has long queue times (in EU at least), it is not a popular mode and would be a candidate for deletion even if there wasn't a dire need for more FW players.
3. CCP have not done their hardest, they have showered players with more LP (an in-game benefit) without addressing the fundamental point that the skirmish playerbase is split seven ways so will inevitably have long queues (a real world disbenefit). People generally prefer real world benefits to in-game benefits. THAT is why people don't play FW - people want to play, they don't want to queue. |

FW is dead and everyone knows it. Ive discussed it before to change the game mode in FW from skirmish to DOM/ambush or even merging the 4 factions into 2 alliances. All i got from the "morons and idiots" that play FW regulary is that they dont want this and prefer to have que times of 1 hour+. You cannot argue with them cause they have the IQ of a roid addicted bodybuilder.
