Can you please start kicking people with too high of a ping from matches or better yet include ping into the matchmaking process so that players with high pings are more likely to be matched against each other instead of the rest of us that actually have so much as a half decent connection to the battle server.
People think that preventing equipment spam will have a great impact on lag but it won't. I'm not saying it doesn't play a role in causing lag for some and this isn't anything against limiting the spam but I haven't experienced lag from EQ in over a year since they fixed the sound bug it had which did cause massive lag. Take the major spam that could happen on a Dom Impact Ridge when A was inside the silo within the compound; where one team would spam the inside of the silo while the other spammed just outside of it; even that wouldn't cause me to lag.
But heaven forbid I get too close to a player that doesn't have a good connection to the battle server we're on. The game starts to lag before I can even see them and if it's a squad of them it becomes a clusterfuck lag bomb. This isn't speculation, I know first hand the advantage a **** poor connection gives from when I hit my bandwidth cap and got throttled to near dial-up speeds; even simple webpages took long enough to load that I could leisurely get up and fix a glass of tea & be comfortably seated again before or right after they finished. My Sentinel suit was an absolute wrecking ball on the US server and on the Euro & Asian servers I literally became death, the destroyer of worlds. I'm exaggerating a bit but that's how it felt, I actually felt like a god crushing ants. I should have been kicked from every match I played for the rest of that month; but I wasn't, instead I was rewarded with constant 1st places and all the ISK & SP that came with having almost 2k more WP's than the guy in 2nd place.
Lag will always be a big problem until the ping issue is resolved.

limit ping to maybe 150 so that allows US/EU to play together.. or JP US to play together.. and not UK/JP as ping would be like 300 to 500 or something stupid

@OP
question is, are you 100% sure your getting low ping in dust while playing with someone that is in the same room? whats more, are you sure high ping stems from network issues and not in-game bugs?

Just last night in a factional, defending an outside objective, not a piece of equipment in sight, zero lag. Ok, so along comes a red berry teleporting all over, taking no damage, then my entire squad starts lagging. We chase this dude around for a while, can't kill him cause of the lag, then finally my squad mate gets a lucky kill on him with his rail tank. Lag insantly stops. |

yes please, I'm sick of Japanese players playing on the EU server just to abuse lag.

Firstly, yes I'm sure it's not in-game bugs. Ping in the context of games is latency, which is a measurement of how long it takes you and a server to communicate with each other.
When I'm on the US battle server I know I have a low ping as there are no servers in the contiguous US that I know of that I have a ping higher than 70ms with (most are 20-50ms) all of which with very little to no packet loss. When I'm on the Europe server my ping is higher; I'm not sure which country their battle server is in so I can't say whether my ping there is good or not. However I tested a few servers on the eastern side of Europe and have a ping of 150-180ms with them, with the Russian ones being the highest; still without much packet loss. While that's not great it still isn't that bad, though I still have an advantage over the Europeans with lower than that.

Unfortunately latency depends both on quality of your internet connection and your hardware/software configuration.
Apart from that how did you manage to test it out? I mean, I couldn't find any working ip adress for battleservers. Please share if you still got them. |

I didn't test their battleservers because their IP's aren't public so I don't know them. If you'll re-read my last comment you'll see I tested multiple servers across the US and Eastern Europe (I went Eastern because it's further away from me and to allow for a worse case scenario since I didn't know which country the EU server is in) to determine what my ping likely is to their battleservers.
