Heavies will be next. I'm pretty sure of that.

Directional viewing needed to die in a fire. Knowing where they are is powerful enough and still a perfectly good reason to invest in EWar: knowing which way someone is looking without IDing them directly is utter bullshit. I skilled out of GalScout because it was so ridiculously easy mode and I didn't even shotgun (except occasionally with a Militia for lulz.)
I'm seriously glad that directional scans are gone.

And this is why I love the changes chumps like you will line up to die to my hmg. Yes I'm glad about the changes it gives me an actual chance to to defend myself instead of every damm suit knowing where I am looking. Being able to see where I'm facing with a high alpha weapon in hand is crazy. really he's right; heavies stick out easliy to anyone on the radar, and we're so slow that anything can run or jump behind us when they know exactly where we're facing AND going.
Edit: also they ARE a fat easy target from any decent distance. that's how u beat them, stay a distance and engage close with flanks, and fluxs. all about a little teamwork. |

On the contrary, it should absolutely affect passive scans. Passive scanners are by FAR more powerful, especially with additional passive EWAR buffs arriving.
The Federation is not a defined region of space, of planets, of mountains, rivers, or woods. It is a vision.

What is your opinion on that?
As a low eHP shotgun scout, I feel hurt. I rely on that a bit to see if a target is facing away from me, or if I'll run in into a wall of fire to only end up in the spawn screen 5 seconds later.
Do I feel this is a necessary change thanks to the overuse of scouts? No.
Do I feel this is a nerf to proper scouts? Maybe a little.
Do I really care? Absolutely not.
I've recently bought the new Super Smash, so Dust is more or less dead to me. I'll drop in one in a while to talk to a few friends or eff around solo, so I don't really care about the state of the game anymore. However, I enjoy reading about other people's opinions, so that is why I made this thread.
How do you guys feel about this change? yeah i'm with you there it does help that i was able to see the direction they are facing but no longer... hopefully they can make some sort of scout buff. this means that the might eventually buff the active scans. they haven't messed with these for a while now. at least that's what i have noticed anyways maybe we can play some factionals this weekend ill be on.

The Scanners seems to be a particular piece of high tech equipment with high scanning abilities that release some sort of radar pulse that should trump any simple dropsuit passive automatic scanning ability. |

I think its a good change, Ive been pretty vocal about scouts lately. Its not that they are overused, its that when they are fit and played right, they become unstoppable death machines that have no counter.
Hopefully with the cloak nerf, this scanning change, and the other scanning changes being added in 1.1 scouts wont be so rediculous anymore. |

With all the changes coming only the better scouts will be able to run it effectively. Changes needed to happen, but I don't think this change fixes a significant problem. If anything, this is a major buff to Heavies, who are already significantly OP. Not as OP as something that is impossible to see and can see everythingNow, even if assaults can beat scans and theoretically sneak up on a heavy, how can they know which way to choose? Assaults could always see heavies and hide from heaviesYou can't tell from directional movement, because people can always run backwards and strafe. you mean scouts now have to rely on their eyes now too??! THE HORRORI don't mind assaults who dampen and haven't HP tanked not having them, but heavies and tanked assaults should have some sort of weakness. they do ask any heavy and they will tell you...
