''Drop Uplinks now have a Passive Scan with a Scan Precision of 35 dB and Scan Range of 5 m.''
So...i could....in theory, with my double Precision enhanced Amarr Ak.0 with Prototype scanner, ALSO equip a couple of Proto Uplinks and place them in strategic positions so i can use them as scan beacons? XD MAybe on roofs directly on top of critical areas like tunnels and what not?
Muahahahaha....
(or i cant because of the new Dropsuit Bandwidth Capacity thingieh that i truly still don't understand how it works...?)

The scan range is only 5 meters. They'll be useful to prevent spawn camping but not much else.
You can't fight in here! This is the war room.

Yea thats an interesting idea. Do you see the information all the time or only when you are dead on the spawning in screen?
I could see these being quite useful to drop in hallways and corridors on some of the maps.

Honestly it's kinda silly. 5m is basically nothing. The only thing this is going to really protect you from is spotting remotes people have placed on the uplink.
EDIT However I could see them being potentially useful if you have a choke point that you want to keep an eye on, such as a doorway, since the threshold is smaller than 10m

It's not out of the question. A berry could gravitate towards them to locate undampened hostiles within range.
Then again, the scout would lay RE's on those links. Edit: As I recall, all passive scans cannot pick up RE's.
Give the Magsex some love.

10 mts is basically nothing and still assaults equip Precision enhancers sometimes... XD
Again. I already admitted i might be wrong and that this idea is stupid. But im glad to read different opinions....

Well like I said 10m is indeed nothing, but its bigger than a doorway. So if you drop one at a doorway you could theoretically spot people that walk through it briefly. Not a game changer, but I could see some creative uses for it.

Not a game changer for you. But..
EXample.
Research Lab Map. A (the subterranean Objective) There are 2 ways to enter there. There is a powerful heavy there but he is all alone and i need to leave to retake B! Ill just put 2 uplinks each behind one of the columns so that the heavy will have one of the entrances with some scan! AT least he wont be jumped by another heavy or an assault XD
Sure, this is slightly countered by the new small EMP strikes but hey! SANDBOX right? XD

Caldari researched wormhole anchoring. They lost people over it though.
Another thing to note; Caldari are most often contracted to build everyone else's gear and typically hire migrant minmatar workers to do the labor.

Hell Carthum is a corporation that was founded by Wyrkomi or one of the other Megacorps if I am not mistaken and currently holds partial ownership.
However IWS the most of the Mineral Wealth is held by the Amarr Empire....where do you think the Caldari buy the raw materials they need to produce all of this stuff?

Muahahahaha....
(or i cant because of the new Dropsuit Bandwidth Capacity thingieh that i truly still don't understand how it works...?) The first question we need to ask is the uplink scan only seen by the dead and dying players looking down on the map ready to spawn. And or will Logi players that deployed their uplinks be able to see on the mini map little scan spots on the map also. If the above two are the case I definitely do not want any living team members to share the vision. |

Next thought equipment uplinks scan should be non adjustable. if it is 35 db it stays 35db. No lvl 5 logi bringing scan down % per lvl |

It really makes me wonder what's the deal with Allotek (Roden Shipyards Sister Corporation). Once upon a time they produced uplinks until CCP took them out of the game.
Now Allotek just makes the Repair Nanohives but it's still an oddity.
Much like Caldari producing Minmatar tech (Submachine gun) and Vice Versa with Minmatar making Caldari tech (Nanite Injector)
The story behind those two are known but I wonder what makes Allotek so diverse.
CCP holds the Caldari's hand so this doesn't happen again.

Genuinely interested in that. Could be something to do with Ishukone...... they have ties to the Federation..... more over its odd that they would produce a technology with roots in the movement of slavery...... knowing the Gallente it was probably one of those ethical things about the tumors and sickness people get when the pass through the generated "wormhole space".

Since we are talking uplinks, does anyone know what the bandwidth will be for them? On the overview I saw nanohives, Re's, prox's, etc., but I didn't see the uplink listed anywhere.
Modules/Equipment
* A new Attribute, Bandwidth Cost (Mb/s), has been added to all deployable Equipment.
- Nanohives = 4 Mb/s
- Gauged and Triage Nanohives = 6 Mb/s
- Proximity Explosives = 2 Mb/s
- Remote Explosives = 3 Mb/s
* All Equipment now has a tiered Scan Profile: STD/ADV/PRO = 55/45/35 dB
* Vehicle Scanners now have the same Scan Precision progression as Active Scanners: STD/ADV/PRO = 46/36/28 dB
* Range Amplifiers now add 5%/10%/15% range per tier.
