Ghosts Chance wrote:CCP you killed the hope people had for the game, rekindle it or the games just going to slowly decay. Don't attempt to speak for me. Rattati has been working on changes to limit equipment spam as well as attempting to balance EWAR. He's doing it all with community feedback. That's admirable.
There is a devblog slated for sometime this week too.
Progress is being made. Considering that Dust 514 is basically being run by Rattati, Logibro, Frame, and a plucky Chinese intern who thinks she is working on China's Got Talent... this is actually very impressive.

Ghosts Chance wrote:The problem is that its too late, if he was on the original dev team it would be a different story, but there is only so much he's allowed to do now. You are crying over spilled milk then. We can't undo Dust's history, we can just look to the near-future. Hell, we might see 1.10 one day.
If you are getting too frustrated by Dust then take a break from it. There's no shame in that. Dust will be here when you come back.

Ghosts Chance wrote:This WAS a break from dust, I'm trying to come back! and at this rate it WON'T be here when I get back Everyone always thinks that when they leave the game will die. It's human nature. Dust 514 will keep right on going without you.
Not that I want players to leave, but people will leave regardless of what I want.

Ghosts Chance wrote:every time I take a break the game declines, the player numbers decrease, the dev team gets smaller. and there's only one dev left... And yet, here we are with a hotfix on the way, an event starting tomorrow, and a devblog this week. Truly, these are the end of times. Truly.

RayRay James wrote:Do you enjoy it? I've had it since near launch, and while I've played a bunch, I can never seem to "finish" a game. Sure, I run out of turns but I haven't killed off anyone, gotten killed off, or even finished of the "Skill Tree" yet. Closest I ever got was lvl 12 in Supremacy, and then 5 turns later the game was over with no option to "one... more... turn" (it was blacked out) It's not bad, I just don't see the replay being there like with Civ 5. Well, Firaxis has a patch in the works that should be out before mid-December. It is pretty massive; announcement linky. I'm enjoying it even without the balancing patch.
I've noticed that if you dig deeply into the Skill Tree's "leafs" the game slows down at times. I go on a branching spree early game and prioritize science buildings first while picking up everything in the Knowledge virtue I can. So far, it's been a winning strategy for me. The Might virtue is pretty OP at the moment; especially that one ability that gives you science for every alien you kill. It's insane.
Civ V will always have a special place in my heart. I am a diehard England player and I love playing multiplayer with three RL friends of mine. But Civ: BE is futuristic and I eat that theme up (e.g. Dust 514). I could see Civ: BE replacing Civ V for me if Firaxis devotes some patches to it and maybe an expansion or three.
