How good is armor tanking on an amarr assault as their primary? Not rep tanking. Is it played like a sentinel? Is it good for point defense? Is it a thing, do people do this? I ask because I never actually pay attention to the amarr assault stats when I'm mowing them down, and I'm curious to how viable Hp tanking is on that suit.

Well, you're already slow as ****, so stacking plates is gonna make you a turtle with less eHP than heavies AND assaults.
So I'd suggest a bunch of reactives and reppers lol, no way would I just raw HP tank.

complex ferroscale plates and complex armour repairers will see you through.
you can have 600 armour, 700 armour, 800 armour, depends if you want damage mods.
in my opinion, coupled with the SCR it's the best assault suit and has very versatile fitting capability, HP tanking is definitely what the suit is good at but I prefer to have about 600 armour and create more of a hybrid suit for better recovery then use damage mods as well.
you have the range, put them down quickly and from far away then you don't really need to stack health modules. the alpha damage is what pulls the suit through and indeed, what wins most firefights, stacking too much health is going to make you slow and in my eyes, overcompensates for a lack of skill.

If you have a Minmatar Logi behind you, it might be viable. Assuming the Minmatar doesn't hate all Amarr...

Honestly its better to have a good rep value on any assault suit.
I'm running 2x Complex Reps and 2x Complex Ferro's with a Kin Cat because speed is godly.
You can EHP tank but IMO thats only really good if you have a logi on your ass constantly as you are too slow to respond to most things.....and if you want EHP you might as well run a Sentinel.
