KB/M strafing is the problem. It is literally impossible to kill these guys added in with Caldari scout hit detection. I watched CEOpyrex's videos and some of the maneuvers that he pulled of are impossible with DS3. For example, he could sprint side to side without changing direction. I am not calling you KB/M players out to say "hey you do KB/M strafe" but it is unfair and broken.
KB/M is a digital input where as analog sticks are an analog. With KB/M either you are pressing it or not, therefore these is no acceleration, they go to full speed side to side without any slowdown.

The best way to beat the speedy strafer is to double team him at a 90-¦ angle. One of you will have a shot that connects.

So you always have to 2v1 them? That's fair.. Maybe we should fix the broken mechanics.

yea some idiot that they fired decided that this feature would be good to add like a year ago.. i think if i remember correct that he lost vs a mass driver during an internal lan party and we received a hotfix the next day that unlocked KBM sprint strafing and he also nerfed the MD and flaylock in the same day before going on to buff aim assist. he created a massive uproar in the forums which eventually fizzled out..

I may be missing something, but I'm pretty sure that I didn't call for a tank nerf before Uprising 1.7. - Atiim

This happens with assaults, and some heavies too. Can't be just that though. Has to also be some lag/latency involved as well.

To my knowledge, Saxonmish uses a DS3 and he moves about as well as a KB/M.
There are some ways that a KB/M gives you an advantage over a DS3. Driving a Tank with a KB/M is a better experience in my opinion. Aim-Assist from a DS3 helps smooth out a lot of the hit detection problems in DUST where trying to hit people with a mouse is far more difficult when it comes to many different weapons. I think you would be absolutely insane to use a KB/M to fly a dropship and trying to carefully control an LAV with keyboard's Yes/No movement is far more difficult than with the gradual control of DS3.
I think they are about equal. I use both. If I am in my Tank, I use KB/M. On the ground, it's the DS3.
If there is a problem with strafing it isn't to be put on a single play style. I am unsure if strafing is the problem or hit detection is and just hitting a target that is moving really showcases the problem. I have not witnessed the common claim that Caldari suits have a problem with hit detection.

You can strafe just as well with a DualShock as long as your sensitivity is on point.

Your being ignorant and beleiving forum bullshit that has been disproved hundreds of times. By direct quotes from developers to practical youtube tests.
The Keyboard isn't a keyboard in DUST. It's an overlay of the DS3. When you press A,S,D,W to move on a keyboard, You are merely emulating the input on the DS3.
Every movement made with the keyboard and DS3 has movement acceleration so that it is physically impossible to max out your moving speed in quick back and fourth movements.
Further, NO ONE USES MOUSE AND KEYBOARD IN THIS GAME ANYMORE.
Don't believe me? Go grab one and plug it into your USB ports and play for an hour and check your results.. The Mouse and Keyboard is an emulation of the DS3 and a terrible one at that... It is near impossible to use in a competitive setting.
If you go out and spend 60 bux on an Emulator http://www.penguinunited.com/ <--- like here? You can setup Aim assist to work with Mouse and actually set hotkeys, while having 1000X better emulation.
CCP Knew people wouldn't have a problem spending 60 bux to use a Mouse and keyboard in their game, So they balanced the Mouse and Keyboard and DS3 by themselfs and made it an extremely even playing field making no difference in plugging in your Mouse or buying the emulator.. The Input results where near the same. CCP Shanghai's leadership then quit and the couple employees took it on themselves to Put Aim Assist in DUST with it's terrible GTA style hit detection. This then imbalanced the Inputs based on someone spending 60 bux. An Emulator with Mouse + Aim assist + Dust's "Lockon" hit detection system screwed the balance in inputs.
As far as moving? There is no difference from a keyboard to a controller what so ever, except movement patterns... Keyboard movers are much easier to hit then a stutter stepping DS3 user. This is just facts that have been tested in competitive circles for years.
Mouse and Keyboard is broken as ****. unless you spend 60 bux+ on an emulator to actually Do CCP's development job for them. |

I don't know, maybe it's cause I've been playing FPS' since Quake 1; but to me other people strafing is just straight up not a problem. I have no problem tracking people (except up close due to limited turn speed and on those days I feel like shooting at air.... don't judge me), the problem as others have pointed out is hit detection & lag. I can't fathom how but sometimes it seems like people forget how broken this game is.
Also yes you should always 2v1 people; hell, when possible you should 16v1 people. Besides the fact that this is a team based shooter, it just plain ol' smart to keep the numbers in your advantage.
And, I haven't used the the KB/M to play since Uprising fcked it to hell and back with a barbed rod. Though admittedly with all the "OP KB/M" threads I've seen I'd be tempted to start using it again; if it wasn't for the fact that ya'll have been b!tching and moaning about it the whole damn time.
Just another bunch of dipshits.

Not to disagree with anything else you said (in fact I generally agree with your post), but I actually do still use the KB/M.
I suppose I'm a bit of a masochist... except for dropships. Then I pull out the DS3.
