How good are you trying to be though? Because there's only so far certain weapons and gear will take you in Dust. If you're not looking to top the leaderboards, then yes, there are ways to get better without using the usual FoTM gear. You're going to need to make the jump to proto either way though, not necessarily the weapons, but the suits at least.

Okay, with that answered, how do you normally fit your scouts?

Well, for practice, I'd suggest trying to run another suit with no ewar capabilities. One thing I've noticed is that once you get used to running suits that won't let you see nearby enemies or be easily dampened, running scouts becomes much easier. Low eHP suits really help with this as it gets you used to picking your fights, though it seems like your Gal scout is already about as low as it gets. My other suggestion would be to run a full ewar fit. Two damps, two range amps, two precision enhancers, all at complex. You won't have much health and you won't be the fastest, but you'll see just about everything and avoid just about everything. Maybe ditch the ACR too. It's a fun little gun, but it's very limited in who you can go after.
