I believe something that would help the game, and new players, is a 'Virtual Field Commander" The virtual field commander has a set of simple tactics it deploys.
To deploy these tactics, behind the scenes it creates a set of virtual squads of up to 6 players each. For instance, there could be a squad of four players, and two free blueberries. Behind the scenes, it would consider them all one command unit. It would then drop either a capture order, or a defend order on a point that only those six players could see, and they get bonus points while in that area just like a normal squad order.
It will create three virtual squads, 6, 6 and 4. The 4 man vsquad consists of the lowest non-squaded mu members of the team, it would then tell them to capture, and then defend, the home point. (this squad has a 50% chance having its orders swapped with the next squad) The next vsquad is counting up the next 6 players (or counting down, second squad + filler if two squads on same team) and tells them to capture the next closer point and defend it.
The final vsquad consists of the highest mu squad + highest mu players on the team (filler). It will want them to capture the central point and defend it.
If there is heavy fighting at a point, it will bring in the highest available mu squad to reinforce (via defend order) the contested point.
This is mostly to handhold blueberries, but I think it will have a great impact on the quality of play.

hmmmmm, forcing people into temporary squads for the duration of the match? Sounds okay. I like the idea of providing more focus to blueberry behavior. In an ideal world, where blueberries follow orders, that sounds like an improvement over our current situation.
However, in all practicality, I don't see it making much of a difference. It's the choices of each individual that determine the outcome of the match, regardless of what you tell them to do.

They aren't forced into squads. That's all behind the scenes. The virtual commander sends individual orders to each player on the team, however for simplicity, it sends orders in command groups only it sees.
Example: I'm running solo, and I see a Blue capture order on A. In the upper right it would say something like, Field Command: Capture designated target. I'm not forced into a squad, i'm simply picked to get the order.
Example B: I'm in a squad, I have a rally out when a capture order appears, in a different color (Gold?). In the upper right : Squad: Rally at designated Location Field Command: Capture Designated Point

Yeah, any way you want to look at it is fine. There is a group of people receiving the same order. It would be nice to see them in green, so at least you can determine who is working toward the same goal as you.
While I do like your idea, there are some issues.
1. If someone did not deliberately join a squad, then why would they behave in an organized way if they were given orders from a virtual squad leader?
2. Virtual squad leader AI: Squad leads make decisions based on battle awareness. How can you build that kind of strategic thinking into a vsl? Assigning the capture order to a random red letter might be an improvement over the current situation if squad members follow orders as designed, however, it would be unaware of the big picture of what's happening on the battlefield. There are many other things that can help a team aside from capturing objectives. Sometimes, holding a single blaster installation can turn the tide of battle. Unless the AI were highly advanced and capable of optimizing complex battle decisions, I don't see it contributing effectively to more favorable outcomes.
3. Battle awareness and important choices still lie with the individual soldier. If you've got incompentent blueberries, then that's not going to change just because a vsl is giving them a directive.
Good idea, but I doubt it would change battlefield behaviors that much. An official battle school lead by more experienced players might be a more profound way of altering blueberry behavior. But ultimately, you're always gonna have peeps who want to jump into a battle, do their own thing, complete trivial or non contributory tasks. Nothing can change that except the empowerment bestowed by education.

It definitely wouldn't hurt the game. What would be best would be an FW/PC actual commander role, but a virtual Public commander would be a reasonable stopgap. The main issue is the coding of the AI: how does it react to changing circumstances? Does it see enemies, only those scanned?
Etcetera.
Definitely worth looking at though.
