Great people to play with and against. I don't know where any of them are.

Yes. SyN was another one. I think SyN and TeamPlayers were probably of only a handful of corps that could actually beat the Imps and Bunnies with some resemblance of consistency.
Pretty much all the corps that were in closed beta and then made up EoN during the early PC days. Imps and Bunnies went independent and didn't take sides, and were up for hire at that point, if memory serves.
Don't matter. EoN would have eventually fallen, whether or not the Imps and Bunnies joined. They simply weren't big enough. Made hundreds of millions of isk, but people were just getting tired. Didn't want to try anymore.
Back in the day, if you were facing SyN, Team, or Imps. It would make your palms sweaty and you got excited for the match. I don't get excited and anxious for a match like that anymore. As for the Bunnies, I never saw them often enough personally to know for sure. The times I did, the match was hit or miss. I knew they were good though, because some guys in corp would tell me how fun a match would be against them. I just never really experienced them.
We corp battled Imps and won a few times, tt was back and forth. We only beat them once in PC though, never got them again. We never corp battled the Bunnies, and I only saw the Bunnies once in PC when I was ringing for SyN. We won. We never once beat SyN in a corp battle, but I did a lot of ringing with them, and they did for us too. They were ALWAYS good. We never corp battled Team Players. I did some ringing for them in PC. They won consistently.
My vote for GOAT goes to Synergy Gaming. With Imps and Team Players tied for second. Bunnies third (on grounds that even though I dont have much experience facing them, I saw the wake of destruction they left behind in PC).

The talent range of the current playerbase simply does not compare to that of the era of chromosome and before in closed beta. Those real high end guys, (Fizzy and James comes to mind) rocked basic and advanced Caldari assaults with GEKs and less than 500 hp and they would put up kill counts and kdrs I struggle to hit with dual tanked stacked proto suits with Duvolles.
And they did it without aim assist or tac net shenanigans.
I might be considered an above average player now, hell, in this current pool I'd even put myself as well above average, but back when the bunnies and Imperfects were relevant, I couldn't even hold a flame to some of those guys in my wildest fantasies. Only thing I had going for me was being a good assault counter sniper, and anti-AV for slap.
Dude, let's not act like 500 eHP was not more than enough in chromosome. This game was terribly easy and majorly clunky and if you look at the first person perspective of most of these players, you find out that all good players have similar good aims, just some take more advantage of either broken mechanics or just being more aware. The hit detection was god awful and strafing with a kin-catted out dragonfly scout only made it worse, it was easy to get away with under 500 eHP if they never landed a bullet. "Talent" just comes from playing the game long enough to get good at it. Less than mate. Fizzy in particular ran around with barely 400, if that. I recall that number because it was how I was able to kill him with finely cooked basic locus grenades whenever I had to face off with him. And these guys ran assaults, not kin cat scouts. Even with the shoddy hit detection, being able to stay alive is one thing, but these guys put up 45+ kills on a regular basis, I watched them put up greater than 60 with GEKs on basic assaults. That was talent. Talent -nowadays- is people who have played long enough to have 50 million sp. ARs were OP as **** and the only go-to weapon there was. Sax can still drop a 70 bomb using advanced gear, and I know plenty of others that can too. This game was easy mode back in chromasome, I think if you match up the best players of today versus the best players then, in this era, they would get toasted dude. There's more to DUST now.
You're right. The game is different today. But I don't think the older players would have a hard time adapting to cloaked shotgun scouts (and I honestly think that's the ONLY thing that would catch the old dream teams off-guard at first).
Newer weapons like RRs and CRs they would immediately adapt to. The learning curve is far less steep today than it was back then.

Bendtner92 wrote:Depends what we're talking about here. Imperfects in closed beta was far different than in open beta and beyond. Pretty sure we played SyN in the closed beta tournament and rolled right over them, but then again I'm sure it was a different SyN than the one in open beta and beyond. Though, I've always considered SyN a good corp, but nowhere near the level of say TP for example. Bunnies were top guys for sure, as long as we're only talking 8 vs 8 battles. They just weren't deep enough of a corp to be considered a top corp in bigger battles.
Well, you're right. Just like you say, "it depends". If we start getting into who did what during their prime, then naturally the arguments to decide GOAT become convoluted. I just gave a vote based on what I experienced of them across all eras: Closed, Open, and PC.
It's a close order too. Near the end of my time playing PC, SyN and TP were constantly carrying for EoN against bad odds. My time with both of them made me filthy rich. lol
