I'd rather have 300k or 400k at the rate it used to be than have to grind 15+ hours a day.
I went number 7 in dust weekly war points to cap in 4 days. I'd rather be able to play less fervently and get more bang for my effort.

You know, you don't actually HAVE to cap right?

Well then I suggest you clear your schedule. SP cap design should not be based off of those who habitually *have* to cap regardless of the absolute value. The rate of benefit per hour has unchanged, nor should it. If you choose to cap that's your own thing, and if it's that important to you then you just need to put the effort in to get it done.
EDIT: Let me put it this way, how would your playing habits change if there was no cap?

It would be the sickest race ever to stay 'competitive'.
People would enjoy Dust a lot more if they accepted the fact that EVERYTHING is subject to change

Meh.
That is a fallacy.
A player can only field one proto rig at a time. Once you have acquired enough SP to achieve this more SP only allows you to be more flexible in what you can field.
This does not take into account experience gained from time in game though.

And this is why I stopped neurotically capping every single week, because at this point I gain zero additional instantaneous benefit from SP. At this point I just play and enjoy the game, and SP just goes into trying out new stuff. I think the tipping point is like 32-35 million SP or so depending on role. If I want to be competitive I just use one of my maxed roles.

I haven't had enough free time to cap out during this event, but if there was no cap I would probably stop buying boosters and spend fewer hours solo-grinding ambush. There's something ridiculously enticing about a hard target/limit.
