*Obligatory comment about needing to heal without the crutch, getting good, etc, etc...*
It's just so sad, isn't it? The idea that scouts might actually need to learn to scout without a cloak, or use a combination of scanning and their eyes. How dare CCP put disadvantages on a piece of equipment.
Quote:No, please give back scouts the thing that makes them scout. Ever since passive cloak scan nerf Scout vs Scout isn't fun. I liked it before where the man that brought the goodies (precision enhancers-dampener war) won. Now it is by chance we run into scouts, for the most part they are almost impossible to hunt down.
Don't you mean the Gallente scout who brought the dampeners and shotgun?
Edit: The saddest part of this is the idea that you think the cloak makes the scout and not the playstyle or the skills of the player behind the suit. Now go home and think about what you've said, and perhaps if you're good, you can come out of the corner in a week.

Quote:Lol, I was thinking that when a scout is bothering my team I would put precision on and scan him. Except now I'm a 200 ehp scout that does in under half a second to everything. This is where the cloak comes in, I can hide from enemies and just hunt down the one specific scout but wait. The cloak just takes all the bonuses I got from those precision enhancers and range amps and throws it down the drain thus forcing me to run this 50k isk+ weak scout for the passives. Ok, fine I can just avoid people and hunt this scout.
Oh look there he is- starts firing at 400 hp+ scout.
Scout: Sh*T!!
Me: Gatcha bish
Scout: *turns around and kills me in .3 seconds with his breach AR
Me: This game sucks.
*Points back to Gallente scouts* I might argue alongside you if it wasn't for the ability of these guys to remain completely off the radar. If you're doing it right though, you never engage a target that you know you can't win against. Caldari scouts are generally a no-no unless you're using a ScR or can get a headshot with a bolt or scrambler pistol. That's the thing about scouts, you have to chose your engagements wisely. You don't go after a proto heavy who's constantly checking his six, you go after the idiot with no situational awareness. Don't forget to pick your targets according to your weapon. Don't be going after Caldari with ACR's, and don't go after an Amarr heavy when all you have is a GEK.
And back to your 400EHP scout, on the chance that you do come across one and they're not dampened enough to evade your scans, just wait, follow them... and strike when they least expect it, preferably after they've engaged a blueberry. Moody demonstrates this idea nicely.

Quote:Correct me if I'm wrong, but did we had 360* passive scan back then or just 60*, because it is giant difference. Before cloak introduction and scout balance I had no problems with 'lurking in the shadows', and in good locations with tide corridors I was able to kill entire squads of players..
Yes, we did indeed, but very few people used them. The scan range was a bit lower then at base, but only by a small amount. I had a Min scout with about 40 meters of scan range, and because of the lack of scouts, I usually didn't even have to fit a precision enhancer to see everyone with that range. Gallente scouts could supposedly get around 100 meters with their bonus, so... yea. It was definitely still there, it just wasn't common.
