Officer weapon drops are rare and amazing things, but we often and most frequently get weapons we are not skilled into, unless we skill into all of them.
What I propose is that instead of getting officer weapons as a rare salvage item, that instead we get an item called 'officer parts', with the new feature of being able to sell items to the market, we should then be able to sell these items to the market for 'officer points', and then we may spend these officer points in the Officer Store to aquire the officer weapons that we desire. If officer dropsuits, equipment, modules, vehicles, or anything else gets added to the game, they could be made available for an appropriate ammount of officer points.
Players should then also be able to sell officer weapons they already have for officer points, but for 1/3 the cost of the officer weapon.
So, current officer weapons would first need their ISK value converted to an Officer Point value, Officer weapons would need to be removed from salvage and replaced by officer parts, and then a new section in the market would need to be added to allow players to get the weapons they want.
I think this could be doable, it still makes officer weapons rare, as rare as the drop rate you set for the 'officer parts' salvage item, but it makes them less random in that players need not get stuck with a weapon they cannot use, or do not want to use, and is a good substitution for players not being able to trade weapons with eachother. |

Or officer weapon drops could be based on (or at least influenced by) which weapon you used most in that game. |

Not that I think your idea is bad, I think its a good idea. I just think my idea would be easier to implement into the game. |

^and losing them quickly. I have a friend with 81 gastuns forge guns. He doesn't have a single level into forge guns.

Yeah, but instead of having like.. 50 cala smg, 30 hmg, 60 forge fun, 20 thales, etc, you could condense your weapons down to the ones you are skilled into, and then maybe you'd feel more confident about using a few of them every now and again because you werent stuck with only 12 krin rifles or whatever else you actually want to use. |

Any feedback from CPM or CCP Devs? I think this would be a better system for officer weapon 'drops' if we are to expect no trading system in the game. |
