Hello CCP Rattati,
I know that this topic has been pounded on more than a 2 dollar ***** but it is a big Issue. This issue is players being able to get out of vehicles instantly. On some occasion you have said that the delay is not possible because the player might just see a blank screen or some other stuff but the solution is simple.
Make getting out of vehicles have the same mechanic as when you are hacking. Lets say you want to get out of an LAV you would have to press the exit button for three seconds in which the hacking/recalling circle will be activated. In this Time The player can still use the vehicle and after the three seconds are up, they will be ejected normally. The same should be done for entering the vehicle, the same hacking/recalling wheel shows up in which you have to wait 3 seconds to get back in the car. Tanks could take a bit longer because of their size to get out and in; maybe 5 seconds.
TL;DR
- make the player have to press the exit button for a set amount of seconds to leave and enter a vehicle
- Use the hacking, recall animation asset to show the progress of the exiting/entering action
- dropships = 1 second delay (due to their transport nature)
- LAV = 3 second delay
- HAV = 5 second delay
BENEFITS
- Reduces Heavy LAV ambushes. While a well timed heavy can get out just as he reaches his goal, he still has to wait 3 seconds standing still to get back in in which time he is vulnerable
- Tankers will no longer be able to deny a kill from anther tank or retaliate with they handheld A/V weapons since it will be much difficult to exit. They would have to plan ahead instead of just jumping when the tank is about to blow.
- Tankers will not be able to easily kill off infantry by simply jumping out since after they do this they would have to wait 5 seconds of standing still to get back in which puts them in direct damger. This means they cant protect the proto suits and weapon they use to kill AV when their tank can't.
FINALLY THE PREMISE
Being able to teleport in and out of vehicles without penalty leads to an unfair advantage against players that do not own a vehicle for x or y reason. When a player can teleport out of his LAV to ambush someone and get back in instantly when he is losing is not a balanced situation. The same applies to tanks, if I am using A/V vs a tank and the driver can teleport out kill me or jump back in if he fails demeans the whole idea of A/V vs Vehicle balance since a swarmer cannot defend himself efficiently against the driver that jump out, fully prepaired in an anti infantry suit.

Excellent idea.
I think these enter/exit delays should also require that your vehicle has come to a complete stop, that way players can't start holding down O while a few meters away and be able to exit immediately upon reaching their target.
This shouldn't apply to Dropships, however.

I completely agree; I just set it at 1 since I was making increments of 2 seconds. S=I did not want it to seem random but you are correct in dropships not needing it

tbh idk why people whine about murder taxi's when i dont even see them hardly ever.. at all..
