Lately, I've been messing around with the GLU and Duvolle TAC ARs, but I just can't find a reason as to why I'd use the tactical variant over the Breach, or for a better comparison, the ScR. With Proficiency at V, the weapon still falls short against my Proficiency III ScR in terms of range and overall damage output. At CQC, the TAC suffers from its low magazine capacity and high bullet dispersion.
The weapon, however, does make quick work out of lightly tanked mediums and Scouts, but against Heavies, taking them on from even the TAC's optimal range becomes a tiresome chore. Is the TAC worth using on a non-GalMando suit? Is it even worth using on a GalMando? Your thoughts? |

The tactical assault rifle and scrambler rifle are twins
It is just with the tac AR you don't need an armour damaging sidearm because the negative armour bonus isn't so bad. It does have high dispersion and is great for 1v1 circumstances (no heat build-up and 18 bullets is all you need for 1 guy)
scrambler rifle has no dispersion (that I feel), needs a trusty sidearm but it melts through shields SO fast. It has a high clip size, and is great for 3v1 situations if you switch to your bolt pistol to finish off the 800 armour before your scrambler rifle seizes.

One of my Assault Classes is equipped with the Duvolle Tactical Assault Rifle. I use it mainly to provide cover and assistance for the people on my team. I only use that class when my team has a strong hold on a position and we are holding the enemy back at a distance. For me it also works well for taking down heavies since they move slow and you are able to stay out of range of their weapon. I rarely use that class though. I usually just charge at the enemy with the Breach Assault Rifle. |

I think so. Personally though, I've been using the burst here recently and I enjoy it much more than any of the other AR's at the moment.

Even with it's -20% it still packs a punch against armor. It does ~1 more point of damage at ADV and ~0.5 more damage at proto against armor than the RR does with it's +10% against armor; at least last time I ran the numbers it did but the damage values on those two haven't changed iirc. And with it's higher rate of fire it's actually a better weapon than the RR at least in 1v1 due to the overheat. Though the Tac does have the advantage in damage since it only loses 10% to armor and doesn't overheat.

only worthwhile one is BAR.. and yet the whiners are petitioning to get that nerfed into the ground becasue they are butthurt their beloved RR was nerfed into a somwhat balanced place.

There is something off about the tac and burst. maybe its the high kick on the tac and low damage on the burst?

it used to be good im told before it was overly nerfed.
whats the clip now? is it still 18.
idk why its not higher like around 24-26 if a scrambler rifle can have 45 shots.

idk why its not higher like around 24-26 if a scrambler rifle can have 45 shots. It's because the ScR will overheat if you spam like a Tac AR after ~18 shots. Though I agree the Tac needs a little better clip size as you said.

Screw the TAC AR... lulz.
I'm having way more success with the Creodrom Breach. Thanks for the replies, though. |
