There should absolutely be a solo playmode. Regular ambush.
All other game modes should get auto squading.

What FPS isn't hard for new players?
There are plenty of FPS games that cater to solo players. This one happens to cater to squads/teams.

I think 30 seconds to a minute in the warbarge isn't a bad idea, but for what you seem to be wanting I think auto-squading is the answer.
We had it in beta, you were thrown in a squad as you entered the warbarge.

I see two teams of four or five of the same corp and on the other squad a bunch of random players .
That's not balanced and that is what this discussion is really about , not e-pen measuring .
If your still on the same $h!t I won't indulge you in the least .
I think the reason so many people like Dust is directly related to it's difficulty and depth. I don't think you are going to get much traction asking to have public matches reduced to solo only game modes where you get some time in the warbarge to build up random squads.
That would suck for everyone when the answer for the sane human would be to find a better group to squad up with. I hope they don't dumb down Dust to the COD lobby shooter level.

We had it in beta, you were thrown in a squad as you entered the warbarge. If it's a mixture of players and not all familiars then that might be a compromise . Like I said , pub matches should be a mixture of random players . Not the crap that's current .
The problem is that the vast majority of players are queuing solo. Push people to squad up and the game will become more enjoyable to all. I think an ambush mode where it's 100% solo would give the people that are limited in time some place to veg out and play some quick matches. However domination and skirmish should be challenging and should involve squads and teams (in FW and PC).
I think most matches are garbage, but they haven't always been. I think the #1 reason for it is crappy payouts, pay people and they will fight. I think many people play solo in scout suits because they reward this type of game play.
So to summarize my thoughts on improving your experience as well as mine:
1) Auto-Squadding in Skirmish and Domination 2) Increased Payouts 3) Balanced Scouts

I agree, and I think that many of the issues stem from CCP ignoring the squad/team play aspect of Dust for so long. They need to figure out how to completely flip the ratio of solo:squad players in matches. The auto squading is okay, but the vast majority aren't going to change their playstyle due to some green dots mixed in with their blue dots.

I can understand where your coming from but how is that helping those who have no knowledge of the game , how is that competitive when the other team is full of random players , how is that NOT driving away people who feel like there overwhelmed by the lack of knowledge , SP's , ISK's or resources to compete ??? It's easy to say in the same mind frame and say you have to adapt but hows that doing for the community and the numbers on a game that's 2 years old and on a system that's 10 years old and it's F2P ? This is ONE game that should be KILLING with the numbers of people that play it but it's dying because not enough people play so they have to jump ship and move to PC .
The auto-squading from beta led me to the group of players that eventually ended up forming Molon Labe. I remember countless times telling some random squad leader how to drop an orbital. There's no telling how much NPE was handled this way back then.
But the game team aspect of Dust has eroded. I couldn't put a finger on when or why. My guess is that many of the beta players have left the game. I think the beta players were more likely to min/max everything to the core and more likely to squad up and come up with a plan to beat the opposing team. Perhaps the new players who are playing a FTP game on old generation hardware aren't exactly the type to use a lot of brain power on the game??? Who knows?

The auto squading is okay, but the vast majority aren't going to change their playstyle due to some green dots mixed in with their blue dots. Since progression is linear the game just gets more and more inhospitable to new players this is probably a change that is long overdue. While auto squad may make people more familiar with team play without any restrictions it would likely have a devastating effect of removing all hope from new players because as it is now people say well you should squad up, when we all know it makes little difference with our very small player base i.e. I will face the same people almost every match in a squad and likely out.
I'm not sure I follow what you are trying to say here.

See , good feedback is valued . Good points made . No reason to every opt out of a squad though. Almost every modern game auto assigns you one before the match even starts.
There isn't any reason for a player to opt out, but when talking this over with Soraya in my thread he made it seem like this would be an absolute necessity. I still haven't figured out why.
