What exactly is boosting? I thought it was players deliberately padding their stats by q-syncing onto opposite teams?

I did it once but I didn't know what it was called. I had 50 sicas from a pack or an event and a buddy of mine was on the other team. I mailed him and asked if he wanted to blow them all up since I would never use them. That's boosting. I didn't know and am sorry. Which may be the case with other people. I could que sync opposing another person and get them to run a needle. I could torture a sniper and destroy his K/D forever but that would be boosting.
Next time you see me, bring more friends.

Yeah, when you and a buddy on the opposing team set up a needle trap, or a rep and hive farm, that's boosting and it's garbage. I was in a needle trap once. I died 16 times...no chance of escape until a helpful red dot killed the guys Logi friend. I'm glad the needles have a call prompt now. It fixes a lot.
Now if you see a gathering way out in the mountains of a bunch of corp mates, both red and blue and you see this in the kill feed

Example I saw today - 4 players q-synced and ended on opposite teams (2 on each side). Players A and B on one side, players C and D on the other. Players A and C would shoot each other but never kill each other. Players B and D would use repair tools on A and C respectively. They did this on a remote part of the map that I flew over in a DS on my way to an obtective. I thought, "hey I'll help the blue berries out". When all 4 stopped and watched me, that's when I realized what was happening. The blueberries even tried to chase me away by shooting at the DS. It was asinine. That, your majesty, is boosting.

Not boosting. Having a freindly redberry revive him over and over so you can kill him over and over - that is boosting.

Boosting is having friends on both teams.
One person kills a red. The friendly red then needles the redberrie and the blue friend kills him again. Repeat 100 times and blamo, boosting

Good! Someone said I was boosting cause I killed the same 4 guys 60 times in total because they were afk and deploying in the same spot after dying. I have them a few seconds to react the first few times, but they were clearly not playing. Few matches later, they were all on my side, plus 2, so an entire squads worth was afk. Karma!
On a related note, has the tacnet session ending thing stopped? The guys that were afk sat, unmoving, in all the matches I've seen them in, whether at ground spawn or in the mcc. |

Yes, that is SUPER ambiguous. EULA are kind of written to be ambiguous to an extent because they are written before the game is a game and because it allows the devs to ban people that need to be banned. Because it is so ambiguous, people will ask "well, I call in my Tank to blow up the installations, throw down Uplinks, and hack objectives; am I boosting because I do it for the WP?" I have purposefully not killed enemy vehicles in one engagement before because it was more fun to toy with the newbie Soma and because it was worth more WP to shoot it 3 times, let it run away, shoot it twice, let it run away, and then kill it. Is that boosting or just trolling newbies?
What about when I see an enemy hacking an installation, I purposefully let them finish it, kill them when they are still distracted, and then hack it back? I do that with Scout when I am roaming an area because it lets me know if there are enemies in the area if I see the hacking alert but it also is free WP. What about the Logi that purposefully throws drown Nanohives on a big group of guys not because they are the most worthy ammo deprived individuals but because the WP? You kill an opponent and you see a Medic suit run across with needle in hand to the downed opponent; is it boosting to let the Medic get the recently deceased up so you can get two kills at once? We have all done that one. My squad leader calls in an Orbital, so we hop into a Tank to get the Vehicle Kill Assists or someone uses Repair Tool for Guardian: boosting?
Basically, 'Boosting' is going to have the same criteria as pornography: "I know it when I see it." It is NOT normal play to hack an objective back and forth because your friend is on the other team. It is NOT normal play to have 2 logi pairs take turn hurting each other to get the Guardian bonus.

Here is a prime example of what "Boosting" can do:

And the time stamp after the match.

These were taken September 29, 2014. Check out first place on the defending side and last place on the attacking side. The kill feed never stopped.I can only imagine what the payout must have been for this. |

It's not your problem that people got low awarness. If U wait until somebody hack instalation to kill that's perfectly fine. Waiting for logi to revive his teammate and then cook two chickens one one rust - seems fine to me.
When people use map corner to farm wp without f....care about others on map - that's boosting. |

Nobody even tried to hack their CRU back! We got there in seconds, and didn't move the entire match. There were 3 of us there, the other guy came 4th I think and got a fair few kills too.
Are the afk guys boosting by doing nothing? They were all in the AV starter fit during that match (and each subsequent match) and they don't move. No running in circles, no ducking down, nothing. Their mu must be affected? |
