What is the proper way of reinstalling. Someone told me that if i just uninstall the game it biomasses my character.
Those of you that have reinstalled after the patch was released. Have you noticed a large improvement in how the game runs?

Removing the game from your PS3 does not biomass your character.
You have to do that in game.
To reinstall, just delete the game, then re download.

This.
Did this a few weeks ago and it did make some improvements to the game. Can also confirm that deleting your game will not delete your characters as they are saved via your PSN id on the eve servers.
Just delete the game and then go to the playstation store and redownload dust514.

Before doing anything, be sure to look at the info screen for Dust in the menu screen; the file should be under 3 Gb, I believe. If it's significantly higher than that (as a result of previous updates/patches/etc.) you likely have a bunch of useless junk that could be slowing down the game. In such a case, a reinstall might help matters for you.

Hmmm, just looked at mine and it is 5965 MB, guessing that is too much? You guys serious on this reinstalling. That would be one way to get me to never play this game again is to loose all my stuff. |

All of your character info/weapons/suits/etc. is stored on CCP's side--deleting the game only removes the actual Dust game from your PS3.
At about 6GB, your Dust file is certainly bloated. However, if it doesn't run into any regular problems while you play you should be fine. If, on the other hand, you notice a lot of crashes/freezes or slow response time in menu screens you may want to try deleting and reinstalling the game. Just know that it may take an hour or so to download the game and most recent update, so you may want to do this before you run some errands or something.

I find it funny that with us being so familiar with the concepts of "server side information" in regards to Facebook, e-mail, Steam accounts, or online games that some would still be fearful that removing the game from our system would trash their characters.

Are you sure about this?
I think I downloaded the game in the background this time, on a fresh formatted PS3 HDD, and got horrible performance. Perhaps that is a clue.

I got fresh format HDD around middle of beta of Dust. Still playing and not reinstaling game itself.
And you know? Not much issues as normal in build. Game still load fast, no frezes and so on.
Maybe I don't use my PS3 enough? Maybe :)
My I try reinstall?
Not much time left...

Yep, yep, and yep. Occational freeze, every couple weeks, not too often. Slow responce in menu. What about, it seems as if the map is still loading about the time i try to jump from mcc and no matter if I hit the parachute button (sorry I forgot what that thing is called) I fall and die? Thats happening more often than anything. Kinda just feels like a slow bogged down pc. If I give it a second to think about everything it works fine.
Guess I'll give it a go. If my characters is safe it can't do anything but help.

Your character(s) and related information is stored server side.
Just don't forget your PSN account.
The only thing you will lose is any soft updates (hotfixes) that are not included in the new download. This may even include the 1.9 patch itself requiring additional loading.
