My Ps3 broke right before the notes dropped so I never bothered. Let the mocking laughter out so we can get it over with.
No wonder we have sentinel spam.
Assault defensive bonuses removed in favor of lackluster weapon buffs (except amarr, who had the weapon buff which remains the best)
removed the lame amarr sentinel bonus, added new sentinels and gave resists across the board.
rifle damage nerfed by 15%
Damage mods nerfed.
Grenade count reduced.
all in one go.
Suddenly the Sentinel and Scout spam makes perfect sense.
IMHO adding cloaks and Sentinel resists should not have been accompanied by rifle efficacy nerfs along with the defensive bonuses on assaults being removed. The caldari extender bonus, for instance, was more useful than the reload speed thing, and with the current poking at rifles, the boat seems to have been missed.
If you want to make Assaults more attractive, perhaps buffing the rifles back up a bit, and altering the weapon bonuses to enhance the weapon application of the caldari and gallente suits?
Call me crackhead but nerfing rifles effectively by 25-30% versus any given sentinel when they're getting an EHP buff anyway seems counterintuitive. Especially since it reduced their efficiency by 15% vs. everything else.
Nerfing the HMG won't solve that core problem. the core DPS is disproportionate to the other weapons because of that. No wonder 1v1s are so utterly lopsided. I thought it was because people forgot that heavy head hitboxes were bigger.
Shows what I know.
EVE Online is what you get when engineers attempt to create "fun" without consulting someone who comprehends the word.

I hate those notes because I read them all and they don't mention reducing the Scrambler Pistol's rate of fire by 43%.
If this game was fun, I wouldn't be playing it.

And in turn, headshot damage has increased susbsantially the past patch/hotfix. Making shooting heavies in the head a much more viable tactic. They're balanced with assaults. They are just spammed because people don't aim for the head too often, and that increases the survival rate of your typical run of the mill heavy.
I want to help DUST become a better experience for everyone. Let's work together!

Before the Assault update and cloaks, people only ever used Slayer logis to be competitive.
Then the Caldari scout came out with the best stats of any suit ever and it only just recently died in 1.9 with the breach AR buff.
I play Dust to see the day when Assaults are finally the best slayer suits in the game. Sentinels are only still good because they can see everything their scout buddies can with the stupid shared passive scans.
Scouts are only still good because of the damn cloak delay and the ability to still stack so much HP while not needing to use e-war modules unless they go up against other scouts.

And +1 to OP. Really I think 1.8 ruined Dust, I stopped playing for a month or 2 after that, and I've never got so absorbed into the game as I used to before that patch. It simply caused Dust to become stressful for anyone who doesn't play a heavy, before that we didn't have that constant worry of "Is there an invincible Logi'd wall of armour with a minigun that kills me in 0.5 seconds around this corner?". |
