Recent boost in activity from CCP/CPM and players .. almost has Dust exciting again... The NPE is the biggest flaw in our system, quite frankly for the fact it doesn't exist New mercs log in to have 4 of THE WORST fittings available.. at their disposal..
Seeing the Mlt store be upgraded was a nice choice Having APEX style fittings for skill building is also a good call - Combine them..
The APEX fits are being designed to be a training tool for a role, imo But this training tool is denied to new mercs unless they spend $30 Or win over 100 battles in FW while consevring 10mil ISK.... this is not for New mercs.
So I ask that you rethink the Starter options and design them to be capable of filling roles in battle.
- Add a logi (Mlt med frame w/2EQ) Reps and a Link/Hive..... all Mlt
- Sniper.. give it Ewar mods and a damn nanohive
- Anti-Armour.. add Mlt AV nades and possibly a hive
- Medic/Frontline, just remove Frontline, and give medic the racial weapons.
This keeps 4 Starter fits, and defines a purpose with some of them..
OR
Rework the starter fits completely to offer an actual Mlt platform for mercs to experiment with roles. For AUR it was done fast enough (APEX) so please consider adding more to the NPE as these are the grunts who if they stick with the game.. will buy Aurum for the other offers in-game..
It's either do this, and allow new mercs experimental gear.... Or remove ScrubLord fittings from Public matches completely (PROTO) It is really boring to watch one scrub destoy an entire enemy team just because they can bankroll it If your going to QQ about earning your gear/ISK then go use those Proto fits in PC or FW... Rather than farming pubs and doing all you can to further flush this game down the toilet..

We could do nothing about it (as usual) and HTFU QQ Git Gud... I care not, NPE won't help me at all.. but it will help the game so I want it improved. It's about time the players wanted the game to improve not just their own preferances...

Haters gonna Hate... I am quite forgiving towards CCP.. this is their project, they will decide how to run it NPE is something they NEED to focus on, as it could bring many players into the fold
Dust is my favorite shooter and will remain so until CCP hammer the last nail in the coffin.. I learned how to get into the game on my own and with other newbs at the time, it's a wild ride CCP need to accept that most 'casual' gamers want to be spoon fed...
So working on the NPE is the best way to do this.. I'm not saying wrap them in a bundle and play care-bear...
CCP need to define the purpose of all mercs new/old via improvements to the NPE..

Yup I'm aware, there is some good detail into fits in there.. I'm just raising the issue further it needs changing. +1
@Tebow Please do not account the 4/8 AUR suits dished to newbs for NPE... They are a good start, yes .. but more variation is needed to show newbs what styles they could choose.
Giving too many fee suits is a bad idea // unless earned
But what starter fits or the new AUR test fits need is a proper definition of roles in DUST combat If new mercs where actually given a sample of what to use / expect, it could help the NPE So upgraded Mlt fits - capped at 4/5 free 'starter fits' Then the new AUR test suits for assault // heavy expaned on, this way they are test items not permanent fits. Adding Scout // Logistics // Commando test fits would be great...
(APEX fits have shown CCP can 'lock' fittings // this feature could be used in balancing starter or AUR test fits)

my main issue with too much freely given SP boosts would be.. A merc who grinds 2/4 months and earns 15mil.. continues gaming for 6 monthe earnign a further 7-8mil thats how progression would go and it would feel like hitting a wall...
A better solution
- More free gear drops // bosster drops from newb/merc achievements.. If these have a high frequency when a merc is below 10 mil.. I would be fine with that |

Adding a tutorial would not even be needed (as much) as adding the suits // fittings // equipment to get involved in fights. As I pointed out, the Mlt Gear menu is full with current gear and 'could' combined with the build of APEX suits ... - So upgrade the purposes of starter fits (and lock fittings to prevent being too useful) - Apothecarys suits are a good example of the options. If you give mercs the tools to learn how to play, they will... right now there is not enough examples/guidance
One way to brighten it up, would be as mentioned with Booster as 'salvage' or 'rewards' for new mercs.. Some of the AUR fits could be salvaged or rewarded also.. just giving more examples of roles to newer players |
