2 questions
I am going to experiment with mass driver , remote explosives and the LAV
I take it I can hurt my self with my own explosives but my own team is safe
I sometimes accidentally whack people with my LAV , do they get hurt. |

No and Yes.
First up, in Public Matches which is the first selection on your battle finder (sub-selections are Skirmish, Ambush, Domination), using splash damage weapons such as the Mass Driver, Plasma Cannon, Forge Gun (Assault variant), and Flaylock Pistol, equipment such as Remote Explosives do have the ability to damage yourself but not your teammates. Vehicles such as the LAV, HAV, and Dropships will not hurt your teammates. (The vehicles do have the ability to displace them however.)
Secondly, in Faction Warfare (second selection in the Battle Finder with sub-selections Amarr, Minmatar, Caldari, Gallente) and Planetary Conquest (called Corporate Contracts under your Battle Finder) have friendly fire enabled. In here, it IS possible to hurt and kill your own team with any weapon. When you teamkill, this results in a -50 War Points. Vehicles can road kill teammates as well and are also penalized with a -50 War Points.
In Faction Warfare, people do have the option to punish you for your actions if you kill them. After a certain amount of "Punishes" from your team results in a removal from battle, a 1 day ban from any Faction Warfare (this lasts until 11:00 GMT after downtime finishes), and a 450 point standing loss with that faction. This will also happen if you do too much damage to your team without killing them.
In Planetary Conquest (Corporate Contracts), it requires a lot more organization to do and the loss of a battle here can be a bigger defeat felt than one in Public Matches or Faction Warfare battles. However, there is no penalty or restriction for team damage like there is in FW. Be aware though, people might not be willing to trust you and you might find yourself alienated or kicked from the corp if you do this without proper announcement and/or consent beforehand. The preceding warning however varies depending on the situation, the people involved, the corp that your in, etc. (basically, Corp Politics)

The only thing I have to add is that even in Public Contracts, when you call in a vehicle, if a Blueberry ignores the warnings and is stupid enough to stand in the delivery zone and the RDV drops your vehicle on the BlueberryGÇÖs head, the Blueberry will die. I think any vehicle which does not have a pilot will kill whoever it falls on.
Hand/Eye coordination cannot be taught. For everything else there is the Learning Coalition.

I'd also like to add that exploding vehicles, regardless of which side they're on, can still hurt anyone. So a blueberry that gets too close to a LAV that explodes will take damage or die. This happens if it's their LAV, your LAV or the enemies.

Ah remember the good ole trolling days where you activated your fuel injector, went at full speed toward a blueberry, switched seats before it hit them and it killed them?
