Non-Lore Answer:
Because the suits are as versatile as I am. Minmatar suits are right up my alley in EVERY role, hence why I am getting them all to proto. I fell in love with the scout early, and shifted focus to the other suits as I went along.
Lore Answer:
I was kicked out of the State War Academy for duct taping a Contact Nade Launcher on the underside of my Rail Rifle. Drill Sergeant was NOT pleased, and I was brought before a tribunal before being expelled for various reasons (They SAY that wasn't the only issue. Something about "open dissent" and "lack of state pride". It's not my fault that I read Ayn Rand and thought "These are some terrible ideas").
ANYWYAYS, I was given a token sum of ISK and told to jump station. Meandered my way through the system, and ended up at a Bar in a remote system in low-sec. Sure enough, the Minmatar were already there and drinking merrily. I joined them in their revelry, and had a good time.
Then the Amarr showed up. They came in with their "Holier-than-thou" attitude and ordered some beverages from the Bartender.
You can probably guess where this is going. Drunk Minmatar and Amarr in a seedy bar in low-sec can only have a happy ending. Long story short, things were said, objects were thrown and I minded my own business. As the offenders took their fight outside, one particularly uptight Amarr asked why a Caldari was hanging out with a bunch of Minmatar, and offered to "escort me from the presence of these Heathens"
Needless to say, I declined. He insisted. I demur. And then he makes the mistake of trying to grab my arm and escort me out forcibly, exclaiming drunkenly that "I wasn't in my right state of mind" Military training took over. Say what you want about the State War Academy, but they trained CQC fairly well. I threw the man on the ground, and immediately noticed that I had a group of surly looking Amarr standing in front of me.
Ready to go down swinging, I took up a stance, and was surprised to see the whole group slowly grumble and head back to their seats, retrieving their fallen friend in the process. The other Minmatar (The one fighting), had now stumbled back in the door, bruised but smiling, with groans being heard outside. The Amarr take their drinks to go and head out.
Thinking that I was just a badass, I turn back to the bartender and notice that every Minmatar in the room was standing on their feet facing the door. I remember that they were all sitting down before my "incident". Distinctly.
I smile and raise a glass toward one of the men. He picks up his own glass, smiles as if to say "Cheers" and drinks deeply.
They bought me drinks, played games, and we were merry well into the night. Having nothing better to do, I offered my services to them and headed with them to the next system.
And that is how I was "Adopted" into the Minmatar, the only people willing to stand up and defend me, which was more than the Caldari ever did for me. And for that small loyalty, I joined with them, and I have stayed for the loyalty they have shown to me since.
