Maybe different patterns for every race?
Caldari, stealth camo/tech/disruptive camo
Minmatar, Animal/Tribal/tiger
Gallente, Organic/sperical/leaves
Amarr, Gold ornamental or plain gold
Or maybe customisable shaders so corps could issue team colors.
Purists could make paintjobs that reference Eve ships/groups
But a squad of Copper and Jade toting would be a nice sight too.
all this if you are not too busy designing a heavy weapon offcourse.

Will have to do the camo bits later as I'm kinda running late for work as it is. http://i.imgur.com/ou0jXwD.pngFrom left to right: Krusual, Vherokior, Nefanter, Sebeistor, Justice Department, Starkmanir.
Good lord. Yes, the two on the left please. I admit you've changed my mind about this whole colouring bit...
Nice work

In a perfect world there would be an online shader tool. People could colour a suit with sliders, add information about why it is a certain colour, and then post it online/in game for people to vote on. The most voted for gets in the game. The community engagement would be marvelous. Oh the feels.
I don't even know what Tash Murkon is but it looks absolutely splendid. Corp used shaders would be absolutely awesome. You would know you are fighting a squad of PFB or D-uni just by colour.

Tash Murkon is one of many Amarrian houses capable of inheriting the throne after Khanid ditch the whole succession rights. They're a bit more expertise in mercantile and commerce over the other houses better known for their theology, technology, and military; their economy is to not be trifled with but some suspect they fund the Dark Khanid cult which torments the departing kingdom constantly.
Thanks, for replying to just that specific bit of the post. I was already searching for this after True adamance 's post
But if it helps, You are very knowledgeable too.

This. The Caldari have 8 Megacorporations who have their own unique colour schemes. The Amarr have 5 Noble Families, the Emperor Family, the Court Chamberlain, and Imperial colour schemes. Gallente have something like 4 Corporations, Intaki Vessels, etc and their unique colour schemes The Minmatar have Tribal Colour Schemes, etc All are lore appropriate an not a single one has been used as far as I can tell to this date...... moreover Pirate factions have their own unique colour schemes.
This is exactly what is missing in dust. Context.
Who knows, or even cares what they are fighting for in dust. Federal marines, Sanmatar kelkoons, Amarr Templars.
These things are perfectly logical when you play eve, in dust however it's just pixels and light.
