As I explained on several threads, I think the cloak scan range reduction is really pushing scouts to put HP modules instead of ewar mods, which completely goes against what you've tried to do so far. I won't explain again why I think that, but here is a proposition that should encourage both the ewar mods and higher tier cloak field (because the proto cloak doesn't bring enough extra for its higher CPU/PG requirements).
So the principle is quite simple, instead of having scout seeing everything within 4.5 meters (which is useless), why not giving them scan abilities similar to sentinels' when cloaked (detecting sentinels within roughly 10 meters), with the possibility to stack ewar modules to see assaults or even bad scouts if dedicating the entire fit to ewar. Also, reduce the penalties between tiers to push people to fit proto cloaks.
I imagined a simple way to achieve this, reduce the range penalty and add a precision penalty.
Here is the spreadsheet for numbers and results, and this would work even better if scouts had ewar skills applying to modules :

All I see everywhere are scouts that do not run cloak at all. It's painful. About that, I agree with you 10000%.
It would be interesting if the scan range penalty was less severe, but a precision penalty was also added. I'm interested in what others may think of this. I worry that with a less severe range penalty, it would be too easy to "game" the penalty into being a mild nuisance and that the meta return to being what it was before the penalty was introduced. |
