After Uprising 1.9, I noticed a change..from about 25% of people in matches using proto, to about 85%..can't blame them...
of course this makes me want to not play; going logi route is now a bad idea. I'm barely making money, so I thought a "Logibroke" fit would be nice..
I've noticed 0 changes in survivability from having 2 shield extenders, to none. THe only real change was from an advanced AR which did no damage, to a militia AR, which does even less..
how are AR's suppose to be used? they're kinda inaccurate on a minmatar logi frame, and kinda do no damage. they do literally zero damage to proto heavies, but any proto scout takes little damage per shot or per clip even..
are logi suits even worthwhile anymore? it seems like a standard/level 1 minmatar logi, trying to rep, is no more efficient than a standard/level 1 SCOUT FRAME which both a cloak and armor repair tool..the cloak gives more survival anyways
I'm basically making a bit more SP, but not enough..and a wildly varying amount of ISK that is almost not covering my cheap suits...I'm trying not to die, but if your repair target goes into combat, order 2 coffins, 2 coffees, and 2 clones...not one.
anyone else been seeing this? it might just be me and my non-proto, non-AUR boosted self..just because they game hasn't earned my money(and I'd rather pay to play EVE online again, to be honest)
but yeah if i see a heavy, i have to run. see a medium? run. blur moving? run.. vehicle? run..anything bigger than a single particle? run..and this is even the idea WITH shield extenders..finally, adding armor plates just slows me down too much..so that's not gonna work |

Are you using your Logi by itself, or in squads? Logis are possibly the worst solo suits.

Minmatar Logies are VERY useful... in a TEAM. Against a PRO Heavy with an HMG you won't have a chance. And it's perfectly fine because you are faster, you can run away, find a team mate and support him. Logi != Assault.
Yes, I'm that desperate...

Minmatar Logi are medium frames, very slow. Even with a Kinetic..
Squads? CAn't; every single damn one of them requires a mic, which I ain't got(think I talked about this in another post)..in the off chance I DO join one that lets me in..well that'll be a rare day. For now, I have to solo.
But just stat wise, enemies(mostly scouts) just flank me, get me so I stop healing whoever, and then my target dies..and I don't even drink coffee :(
so, pretty much, pick a different role...makes sense. |

AR's are strong if you have an investment in them .
Don't think that your just going to jump in this suit and start to wreak because you won't if you have no SP's behind what your doing .
Make investments and you will see changes now if your picking a role and you want to focus in that role , you will notice an improvement but you must invest .
Please don't just think that the suit and equipment will work wonders without backing .. others suits will perform on the level or better then yours but that's because they have SP's backing that suit , weapons and role .
You have a free and unlimited supply of suits and those mods , so use them , stack your ISK's from not having to spend any and take this time to build your SP's and strategies while doing so .
It's not just going to instantly garner results for you without the SP's to back it up .
Doubts are like flies and should be treated as such and crushed .

Actually logi's are some of the best suits to solo in as long as you stick with the team and gtfo when it looks like the enemy is about to overwhelm your team. It's so easy even a newberry could rack up thousands of WP as long as they aren't a dipsh!t (yes, there is a difference, blew my mind too)
And Chris, add the channel "RJC channel" I'll be more than happy to squad with you. I love logi's and don't much care if people have mics or not (I'm an anti-social bastard anyways..... yet somehow I always end up as the recruitment director in the corps I'm... dafuq.) as long as you can at least hear me if I'm trying to organize the squad or warn you.
Though I haven't been able to play much since the 1.9 update but you'll see me in there sooner or later. If you see Razor or Jackwolf on you can see if they'll squad with you. Sometimes they don't mind micless people, sometimes they do (They're chatter boxes to begin with). but even then they'll tolerate not having a mic as long as you're helping the team and especially if you carry a needle.

Perhaps I should have re-phrased, I mean't solo as in lone-wolf away from people.

I have AR Operation, Rapid Reload, Sharpshooter, and Ammo Capacity at 5. No proficiency or fitting optimization. That might be the reason. But, maxing Proficiency..15% bonus damage to shields? Hm...
As for suits..I had to google it..come on; I thought AR's were projectile weaponry :( so points in logi for Minmatar, I went a single level into Minmatar Assault..HAHAHA..jokes on me! Only the SMG, HMG...and Combat Rifle(piece of..junk) are "projectile" weapons..meh.
So, should I even consider myself AR-skilled? At all? Yes I can use proto..but those are awfully pricy...maybe I should try Gallente Assault dropsuits? It would give a bonus to AR.. |

I don't plan to. I wasn't assuming I could communicate without a microphone. But what info do I have to relate to the team? I listen. That is plentiful..when others speak.

Regarding the whole "feels like proto is everywhere thing"; the day of the 1.9 update there was an income bug which sometimes resulted in people getting like 5 million isk in one match. They fixed it the day after but anyone who played a lot that day had access to potentially tens of millions of isk so... yeah... It will take them a decent while to run out if they got lucky.
As for going Gallente Assault, before you decide whether or not to invest in it try something out for me. Next time you've got the drop on someone from close range, crouch and stop moving before you try killing them with hip fire. This ought to give you a hefty accuracy boost and let you know if you'd really benefit from the Gallente's passive.
If, after trying this out, you still decide you hate the Assault Rifle's damage then I do a run of Faction Warfare to test out the Gallente Assault before you invest the SP. If the extra health and sidearm slot (try the bolt pistol if you haven't already, goes perfectly with any anti-shield weapon) aren't sufficient then maybe move on to trying the Loyalty Store Commando/Sentinels before picking a combat suit.
We should totally get a Quafe soda mascot hologram.

I've been playing a standard Gal Medium suit recently, using the GEK 36 ADvanced AR..it works nice. Crouching makes it amazingly accurate, of course..I think I will like the Gal Assault suits.
My problem seems to be, even with a Bolt Pistol sidearm..I'm at the wrong range 99% of the time. MY AR just cannot hit accurate enough, as in I cannot hit a moving target at that distance..however far away it may be...
SO..let me ask: do I ADS with an AR? I use the GEK 36 Advanced for most engagements, but, I bought...another rifle. Think it was an advanced Breach model...had a few less bullets, but was pro-hip fire(Tighter hipfire spread)...not sure what to use..
Maybe AR's just won't work, not enough range variety..BUT, if this problem is easily fixed by tactic or weapon change, let's go with that |

Proficiency before or after weapon-specific suit?
And, I got some cash recently. I will look for a cheap ps3 compatible microphone. |

You'll need a gal mando to get any bonus to the AR. The AR will work fine on a min logi, any rifle will as there are no weapon bonuses for logi suits.
I'd get that AR up to prof 3 at least with the SP that you've already dumped into it.
How about your core skills? Shield and armor upgrades? Other shield and armor skills? How about your rep tool? That's where the min logi shines.
I wish my avatar was Minmatar.

It really sounds to me like that Breach AR will start working for you with a little practice. It has a longer optimal range than the standard AR and higher alpha damage. If you're looking for the AR variant that rewards ADS and keeping targets at arms reach, the Breach is the one for you. Just don't get too far out there, Rail Rifles will still own you at long range. Focus on flanking from cover, and keep moving. You won't win up close against shotgunners or HMG's, so don't camp a spot long enough for them to move in on you.
You have the right attitude, stick with it. It can be a hard game to love, but we all keep coming back to it.

edit: setup a Gallente Standard MEdium dropsuit, with an advanced AR on it and some stuff..not bad. Looks foreign compared to my normal Minmatar stuff, though. Considering going Gal Assault.. Clearly, you went the wrong way with this. You skilled up your AR to proto without going anywhere in Min logi. Try to get the Min logi to 3, your equipment (uplinks, needles, nanohives, rep tools especially) to three, and general cores like armor and shields to 3. Those proto AR skills wont do much if you keep dying. It's not about the proto, it's about the skill. Heck, I've gone 20/3 in a STD Min scout with a Standard CR and ZN-28 Nova Knives. It's just the people playing have either been playing too long or too short. They are either one, middle ADV stompers on the corners of the game, two, proto people who spammed PC way back when and can run it mindlessly and have good skill, utilizing proto to their benefit, and three, new rookies who just come out of academy, not knowing anything and dying and failing to all these vets. Don't worry, I'm a logi too, stick with it. Just drop uplinks a lot, keep seperate fits, like one for uplinks, nanohives, and a general rep, reveive, resupple fit. Cycle between these and you get a serious rack going.
Try doing this. Find a good area of the map and drop your 3 to 6 uplinks depending on your skills. If you only have everything at one or two, try a MLT Drop Uplink, a STD Drop Uplink, and a STABLE drop Uplink. Watch these every time you die and drop some more if you see them go poof. Then, find an area where a lot of your team mates go when they need to repair, resupply, etc. Drop nanohives effectively around the space so none barely overlap. Use a Compact Nanohive, STD Nanohive, and I strongly suggest a KN-2 Nanohive, but if not, go for a MLT one. A flow of points will reap in if you just keep doing these over and over. When you wait for them to pop, walk around with your rep revive fit and rep and revive! Make sure your teammates (if you go solo) know that you have a designated spot for them to rest.
That's it.
If only you could attach RE to yourself and kamikaze a tank
