As for suits..I had to google it..come on; I thought AR's were projectile weaponry :( so points in logi for Minmatar, I went a single level into Minmatar Assault..HAHAHA..jokes on me! Only the SMG, HMG...and Combat Rifle(piece of..junk) are "projectile" weapons..meh.
So, should I even consider myself AR-skilled? At all? Yes I can use proto..but those are awfully pricy...maybe I should try Gallente Assault dropsuits? It would give a bonus to AR..
edit: setup a Gallente Standard MEdium dropsuit, with an advanced AR on it and some stuff..not bad. Looks foreign compared to my normal Minmatar stuff, though. Considering going Gal Assault.. Clearly, you went the wrong way with this. You skilled up your AR to proto without going anywhere in Min logi. Try to get the Min logi to 3, your equipment (uplinks, needles, nanohives, rep tools especially) to three, and general cores like armor and shields to 3. Those proto AR skills wont do much if you keep dying. It's not about the proto, it's about the skill. Heck, I've gone 20/3 in a STD Min scout with a Standard CR and ZN-28 Nova Knives. It's just the people playing have either been playing too long or too short. They are either one, middle ADV stompers on the corners of the game, two, proto people who spammed PC way back when and can run it mindlessly and have good skill, utilizing proto to their benefit, and three, new rookies who just come out of academy, not knowing anything and dying and failing to all these vets. Don't worry, I'm a logi too, stick with it. Just drop uplinks a lot, keep seperate fits, like one for uplinks, nanohives, and a general rep, reveive, resupple fit. Cycle between these and you get a serious rack going.
Try doing this. Find a good area of the map and drop your 3 to 6 uplinks depending on your skills. If you only have everything at one or two, try a MLT Drop Uplink, a STD Drop Uplink, and a STABLE drop Uplink. Watch these every time you die and drop some more if you see them go poof. Then, find an area where a lot of your team mates go when they need to repair, resupply, etc. Drop nanohives effectively around the space so none barely overlap. Use a Compact Nanohive, STD Nanohive, and I strongly suggest a KN-2 Nanohive, but if not, go for a MLT one. A flow of points will reap in if you just keep doing these over and over. When you wait for them to pop, walk around with your rep revive fit and rep and revive! Make sure your teammates (if you go solo) know that you have a designated spot for them to rest.
That's it.
