Dear Immortal Mercenaries of New Eden,
Use the word "Magazine" or "Mag" instead of "Clip". It will make you appear much more smarter and more refined, and much less like Neanderthal.
Unless the discussion is about a weapon that uses a Clip without a Magazine, use Magazine. Such weapons include but are not limited to: -M1 Garand -Mosin Nagant -SKS Rifle -Mauser Pistol It is completely fine, expected actually, to use the word Clip when discussing these weapons and others like them. Generally older firearms made between the late 19th and mid-20th Century used Clips.
However, almost no modern firearms uses Clips or "internal magazines" besides select recreational firearms and actual recreations of older weapons.
We use Magazines in the 21st Century, and so do the people of New Eden. Use the right word please.

X Thousand years in the future where an Empress Rules over Trillions of Fabulously Fanatical zealots, we travel in 10km long Titans, and can warp star systems in the blink of an eye I think they'd be looking down on us for using the term "magazine".
They would look even further down for using Clip.

I would still call it a Magazine on the principle that the "ammunition" is inside a metal casing that it inserted into the weapon, rather than the ammunition being placed directly into the weapon. Even though they are actually quite unlike both Magazines and Clips, they are still more similar the Magazines in appearance and function.
Although, I think it would completely acceptable to refer to them as "Energy Cells" or something for the energy weapons in the game. So the ScR and Laser Rifle too.

Can I call it a clip then? Yeah. If you are actually using a Stripper Clip or en bloc Clip, go ahead. Knock yourself out, man.

A clip is used to load ammo into a magazine. A magazine is used to load ammo into the breech of a firearm in order for it to fire. The M1 and SKS have attached magazines; the magazines are welded to the weapon, and so use clips to load the magazine. Modern firearms like the M4 use detachable magazines, which are still loaded by clips, but instead of the magazine being welded to the weapon, the magazine can be removed and a new one inserted. Yes. To further add, some magazines do not have clips either. An example is tube magazines, like you would often see on Lever Action Rifles in the late 19th century, pump action shotguns, and some modern small round rifles. These weapons are usually distinguished from traditional box magazine weapons though, and usually referred to as tube-fed weapons rather than tube magazine weapons. Either name is acceptable however.
