GÇ£That them?GÇ¥
It was a simple question in theory but the attempts to identify the slowly moving caravan across the desert plateau had taken the 4th Platoon almost six days to conclude, and there under the dim red glow of Arzad IIIGÇÖs sun the hunched forms of six Imperial soldiers hunkered low into the dependable cover of a rock shelf.
From their sheltered positions their view extended to the North West, a barren wasteland of sweltering deserts, and rocky, windswept canyons, lines of sight only obscured on the far horizon by the dark, bitter winds of an on rushing Shamal whose storm front rose into the atmosphere driving the clouds before it.
GǣGod willing it is TamashGǪ.this time at least. Bring Dano and Shkanon. The Black Wind will be on us before sun down tomorrow.Gǥ

"There was no order given. The moment the farseers dropped to his chest, still hung tight from the worn leather strapping, they bolted swiftly down the plateauGÇÖs deep crags making for the safety of the outcroppingGÇÖs narrow defile where in laager lay the twin sleek hulls of the Light Attack Vehicles.
Between them reared the Leviathan, itGÇÖs heavily armoured hull glinting with a savage delight amidst the roaring conflagration, itGÇÖs tungsten composite skin shuddering in sheer excitement with the rocky pass, small chips of basalt crumbling against its impenetrable bulwark."

"To them there those ruins looked a formidable citadel of charred and smoking basalt interspersed with ashen remnants of metal work and circuitry that evoke the image of the carcass of a might beast that rose out of the rolling dune, brought low by some unseen hunterGÇÖs shaft.
And in those skeletal relics the Matari band shamelessly made their camp, surrounding the creaking hulls of their primitive land craft with tents woven of weather resistance materials, and great pyres that burnt long into the night."

"They returned to the track at dawn, first light of the sun chasing doggedly the swift path they cut through the dunes, following the half scoured gouges their treads had carved out of the deserts rough hide the day before, where upon they feel into attention before their platoon leader."

Part 5-
The Leviathan cast it baleful eye across the field and spying the two skulking forms of enemy war machines cast and unerring beam of godly light across the field, vitrifying all glittering sand that it touched, in a display of GodGÇÖs earthy wrath.
Unable to bear the sudden barrage this war machine trembled a single time before transforming to a towering inferno of rusted steel and howling screams, its stores of powerful ammunition detonating with force setting to flame its occupants.
GÇ£Enemy armoured unit confirmed kill, Squad Leader. Second unit positioned behind the transports in defilade, confirmed combat readiness, Anode Particle Stream recharging.GÇ¥ Crowed Kador, across the shared communications relays, rightly please at his initial strike, though his good will was short lived.
Ka, noble woman bearing the EmpressGÇÖ own graceful favour, was the first of their number to die, toppled from the pulse laser turretGÇÖs armoured manse by but a glancing blow of scathing auto canon fire, that raked the sleek craft with tongues of flame and concussive impel.
But brave Tamash, Radhe, and Kador, adamantine leviathan, harried the tribal lines, their angers lit aflame indignant at and aggrieved greatly by the death of their comrade and so rushed the embankment where upon the basalt keep did shelter its heathen guard, taking their forward positions by force in a sweeping strike.
Given but a moments reprieve strong armed Dano , squad leader of the motley band, made for Shkarnon who trembling with such grief cradled Ka behind the charred shell of their Light Attack Vehicle, to preside over the ritual observances of their people.
GÇ£Form up ShkarnonGÇ¥ he called over the din, straining his voice to its limits. GÇ£Reinforce the breach with Tamash and Radhe and clear all positions as I flank right!GÇ¥
Freed from obligation to his comrade Shkarnon, possessed of a fierce temper, did so rise, weapon in hand, returning to the combat he took his revenge slaying all with fire and light that did dare stand before him on that chary field.
Fierce counter attack came three fold times over those battlements and each time more men fell other rose to take their place, like blasphemous desert spirits, wrath incarnate, raging against GodGÇÖs immovable and irresistible edict.
All strong men born of Matari stock did assail the CrusaderGÇÖs position, with knife, grenade, and screams of pain, as all men choked on the stinging black sands whipped up in vengeful manner, as Dread winds tore at the ruins with ethereal delight. Poor Radhe fell next, set upon in brutal fashion by Siebestor men who bore him to the ground and tore at him with savage knives until were scattered by DanoGÇÖs pained howls and thunderous lamentations of his rifle.
Youngest Tamash to, torn asunder by pitiless force of marauding tankGÇÖs great shell and left to suffer, still very much alive, kept so by blessing or curse of youths inexhaustible vigour, stung by black sands as men died around.
And yet they pressed, two men on foot charged with righteous fury, like giants amongst petty men they fought off their attacks scattering them to die later in the storm, striding over the bodies of those to slow to recognise their proficiency.
Under further barrage the Leviathan withstood, its hull pierced in several places leaking acrid, poisonous smoke that was whipped away on the Black Wind to harass the eyes and sting that throat, yet it harried itGÇÖs the war machine with brigh beams of directed energy that pierced the oppressive pall.
With one final anonymous battle-cry torn away from him by the bitterness of the storm itself the Leviathan lurched forth, uncontrollable pace, over the embankment into the darkness, leaving in its wake the flaming wreck of the war machine. But the Lord having finally pierced the veil saw the death wrought upon his children and took great pity on them then, descending from heaven to walk the field.
He took from youngest Tamash his pain, and granted him peaceful everlasting sleep and a place amongst his ancestors, and to Kador he lavished with inspiration, the man sheltered in the great armoured beast, to leap from the wreckage and take shelter in the low hanging eaves beneath the embankment.
Having righted all upon that field God returned to heaven to preside over all his creation, so that no more injustices would be that day wrought against his children.

Part 6 -
They came together as the storm passed at noon the following day, each man having hunkered down in whatever coverings they could find suitable to protect their bodies from the shamal, their hearts weighed down heavily by sorrow.
To poor Radhe and youngest Tamash, the survivors collected their armaments from where they lay, returning the dead their earthly possessions and sending their lingering spirits on with words of their faith and of personal kindness, and in turn themselves felt at peace.
With holy works completed Dano ordered the remaining three to assemble amidst the ruins of the basalt fortress, still worn thin and demoralised by the deaths of their companions and friends, to remount their remaining Light Attack Vehicle and make back those hundreds of miles to their homely barracks.
With great regret they all agreed, and tenderly loaded up the bodies of their fallen into the vehicle, forsaking their remaining supplies and rations, and back tracked to the stone monolith where they had bedded down, burying the dead in hollows they carved out of the stone so that no scavenging beasts might of them take their sacred flesh.
Fasting as they made their passage each remaining man thought fondly on their fallen brothers, and sister in Ka, as chasing the blackened sands of the still on rushing Shamal, such was it that the Black Winds reminded them of their loss that Dano, clear, ringing notes began to sing a lasting dirge than to none present would ever forget to the end of their days.
