My usual squad and I where introducing a friend to DUST, and we where running our typical build, me as an Amarr Logi (Scrambler or RR, SMG, Needle, Uplink, and Reptool), a Minmando (an Assault Combat Rifle along with either Wyrikomi Swarms or FREEDOM), and Gallmando (BAR with a PLC was his typical loadout, but switches out often), ordinarily us three would pile into a tank and go wreck enemy armor...but we had a fourth person so at first we we where footslogging it to objectives to take and hold, I would call in tanks as needed to be either mobile cover, or a giant distraction so the commandos and assault suit could get work done. Then our new assault using friend said he wanted to try out a tank for our typical strategy in the next match. I figured, what the hell, I can footslog it or provide scans...but then as I looked through my selection I remembered that I had a few Pythons sittng around. I start the match out, and call in a tank for my squad to take (I've got the most SP into vehicles, so whenever someone from my corp wants one, I just call it in, they pay me back after the match) . After they where on their way, I call in my Python.
I proceeded to fly over to where the rest of the squad was engaging enemies (at the point closest to the enemy MCC, as we almost always do) and remembered, I sucked at killing dudes with the missiles launcher, I could never line anything up while flying it...but I did notice that whatever my "spotlight" touched showed up on passive scans...and sure enough showed up on my squad's passive scans as well. I proceded to harass targets and paint them for the Commandos and Tank to take out, occasionally dipping into the enemy redline to force snipers to find new, more creative positions. During that match I proceeded to once again play support for my squadmates, apparently earning yet another knickname for one of my vehicles (This one being 'Tutorial' - Python). anytime we have a four man squad like that, I think I'll start out in a Tutorial Python and support like that...
Anyway, anyone have any fitting advice for what to do on a python for that kind of role?(instead of the murder death death kill role it normally serves)
Khanid Logi and Tanker, sometimes AV Heavy or Sniper.
I believe all these roles are support for front line soldiers.
