SameGǪa passive booster ran out during a match and I was docked the SP i earned in the match rather than awarded. Relogged immediately and approx half the negative SP was removed, but still in the red. Ticket submitted.
I had just spent all my SP before the match so was almost at zeroGǪlooked like a perfect swap, negative for positive earned in the match. |

We aim to deploy a fix to restore all characters to their correct lifetime SP, and eliminate this negative SP thing. Unfortunately we do not yet have a time-frame for this, but we will try to fix this as soon as possible. As it is rather difficult to go into the details of how and why this happened and how it can be fixed without going into fields that I am not qualified to talk about, or revealing formulas that should not be revealed, please just try to trust Uncle Archduke on this one.
Pro tip - as pointed out by one of our players - switching the passive gain off and back on is a possible workaround for at least stopping the unallocated points from counting down.

I realize you can't go into the technical details, but is this triggered by boosters expiring? Is it limited to passive boosters? As for the workaround, does this permanently prevent this from happening again (obviously we have to wait on the fix to restore any missing SP)? Or do you have to keep repeating this for every new booster you add? I'm just a bit confused about how the workaround works.

One of my alts JUST got -812 272 SP
And I most definately confirm that it is NOT just a visual 'passive skill point update' bug.
Total skillpoints went from
(eve time 13:18)
total 60 617 000
unallocated 2 587 200
SP
to (eve time 23:43)
total 60 082 283
unallocated 2 0552 481
SP
That unallocated change proves that the loss is real.
Earlier today I could've used 2,5M SP for stuff.
Now I can use only 2,0M SP.
EDIT: And yes, I know numbers don't quite add up. But that's not my fault, it's just what the numbers are.
EDIT2: Login screen now 5mins later give that char 59 805 057 SP - going down?!?
People would enjoy Dust a lot more if they accepted the fact that EVERYTHING is subject to change

I'm pretty sure CCP knows this is an urgent problem. Getting the fix right is probably delicate, as it could easily result in screwing up everyone's SP by insane amounts if done incorrectly. Maybe this will come in 1.10.

I was hoping to extend the boosters to mitigate the situation at least temporarily, but hadn't realized that it is no longer possible when all slots are full 
Thank God I happened across this thread and spent all my un-allocated SP at the last minute.

There is a bug with the passive boosers when my triple stacked boosters ran out this is what I saw when I loged off and back on when I was negative 650k pasive sp while running trip pass for part of the day and actovating 2 new pasives so about 100k was added that day and minus 650 for the day is about 750k sp taken away.
(Will update with picture as soon as I find out how.) |

I also lost another 500k SP again yesterday. That sucks on so many levels.
Tip : Use your unallocated SPs to by skills before a booster runs out. At least the skill stays (yet)
Hope GM Archduke & CCP will solve the issue soon or reset & refund the concerned accounts somehow fast. |

Tried the passive sp on/off trick, did not work. Have lost around 1 mil SP (not too sure, kind of didn't check up too often. Just knew something was wrong when I had enough to get a new proto suit but then didn't.

Coinciding with the expiration of 2 passive boosters, I also lost approximately 520k SP.
I have attempted to open a ticket several times, however I have not received confirmation that the ticket was accepted either through the website, or through email, and my support ticket page shows no record of any open tickets.
*Edit: Apparently the support ticket system is incompatible with Firefox(?), I was able to open a ticket in Internet Explorer. |

So, this bug is telling us that the "Secret Coding" is linked to the allocation of the SP triggers.
The approximate "How and Why" is not that secret really, anyone who sees this error can figure it out for themselves...
There are two approximations currently available.
-What we can infer is that the booster could be a modifier against a "True Maximum" of SP that can be earned, and when the booster turns off, it reduces the "New Maximum". When improperly coded to check the state of other boosters, this can reduce again, and cause deletion of SP. Hence multiple Boosters have multiple triggers.... so when one deactivates it counts all of the boosters, even if they were not set to expire, leaving you in a negative position from where you were supposed to end.
As in 3 boosters on, one expires, subtracts 3 worth of passive/active pool, then the next one expires... removes 2 worth of pool, then last one, reducing 1 worth. Total of 3 up 6 down. Result --Negative active and/or passive gains.
-Alternatively, a simpler answer might be it's just terminating the SP earned through the boosters that triggered prematurely, and counting the passive alongside of this.
Hence by forcing a server recheck of what boosters are actually supposed to be calculated... such as turning Passive gains off then on again... You fix the negative passives half of the bug.
The purpose of such a system is to Hard Cap any potential gains etc... Very strange execution I'd say.
That doesn't sound like much of a "Secret" but whatever. :/
This kind of thing happens all the time. Game sound playing continuously? Server's failure (such as that eternal beeping for the EXP bar, same thing) because it doesn't have checks in place. In order to fix the error, you have to push the file, (the specific sound effect in this example) so that it triggers again, and the checks run down to fix the erroneous termination.
Such a system that surrounds EXP boosters should just be a simple modifier fitted with Static Variables to indicate the booster type... An Additive system does not encounter these bizarre errors...
If the system was simplistic, errors like this would be far less of an issue, and faster to fix. Apparently someone likes to Obfuscate their code, and things like this are the natural result. (especially if there is poor documentation alongside the code, then it's just like wading through a mire as you have to practically reconstruct the entire code just to understand what it does.)

If it's just your SP hasn't come back, no. This was only a fix for the direction the passive SP was ticking.
If your SP is slowly ticking upward with the Passive on. then the sub-issue has been fixed. The core issue has not been addressed yet to my knowledge.
If your Passive SP earning is still ticking in the negative direction, a new ticket might be prudent, but they are probably addressing that as well already.
