If Sentinels couldn't hack?

Then you'd better give us some points for being a bullet sponge cause **** man...sentinels can only get kills and kill assists aside from hacking. Maybe even just bonus points for being next to an objective and killing anything near it.
Kill +50 Defender +25 Hardened +6
You can get 30 kills and still get 8th place on the board if your team is competent, meaning lowered isk rewards. Sentinels have it tough as it is currently unless they are squad leaders
Or make a variant that subs out a sidearm for an equipment slot

I can get quite a bit higher than 8th place with AV

I think in general suits are a little *too* multipurpose. If only certain suits can perform critical actions, you basically force a more diverse selection of suit types on the battlefield, which I think is good. Specifics are of course up for discussion, but I think overall its a valid thought process to pursue.

Me and kane were talking about this a bit ago.
it would INSTANTLY change heavy meta.
But how do you change the meta so everyone doesn't just go "No worries, I'll just roll scout, LOL?"

Or maybe change their hacking rate so that it's implausible for them to consider hacking, but they can still assist a hack.
It may be a nice change. Firstly heavies won't instantly lose their suits to remotes as often because they won't be on top of points as much, and secondly they will rather spend time defending the people hacking than trying to squeeze in on some juicy hack WPs, and killing people might net them more WP than maybe getting a hack assist whilst letting the enemy swarm into the point and shoot the hackers.
Or it could fall on its head depending on how much hacking heavies do already, and render the suit redundant as pointed out previously.

I think making heavies not able to hack objectives would be a really good change. I think back to PC and when one team would try to vehicle spam like crazy, good vehicles as well, but still have the battle end in a loss for them because vehicles can't hack points.
If you have a bunch of heavies with no other infantry support defending an objective you can actually turn the tide with a speed hack. A large penalty to the heavy hacking rate could also work (and would be hot fixable).

I share this sentiment:

Particularly combined with some cost to switching suits at a supply depot ala this thread:

Battles would be decided a little less by the count of how many polymath heroes were on each side, and a little more on communication, planning, and coordination. The mid-level player with only one specialty could make more of a difference in any particular battle. Pub match squads would care a little more about skill-mix of members rather than just a grab-bag of whoever is online in their favorite chat channel at the time. Suits should reflect and limit roles with it remaining possible, but costly (time, vulnerability, whatever) to switch suits in a battle.
FPS = First Person Support. Kills win battles but it's kinda hard to kill if you're dead and out of ammo.

Nothing much they should be covering hackers anyway.
