Dropsuit Command, Dropsuit Upgrades, and Weaponry.
Of these skills, only one (Weaponry) is worth taking to level 5. Level 5 of Dropsuit Upgrades is useless, alongside level 4 and 5 of Dropsuit Command.
I feel there should be a point to maxing out these skill, so here is my proposal:
Dropsuit Command - 1% reduction to ISK prices of dropsuits per level
Dropsuit Uprades - 1% reduction to ISK prices of modules and equipment per level
Weaponry - 1% reduction to ISK prices of weapons per level
This idea grants a small benefit to those players who have taken these skills to max level, and gives another small skill sink to the players who haven't.
If anyone has a better idea, or would like to improve mine, please post you idea here and I will edit this post to include your idea.
Sincerely,
Glantix / Ice

So would you want there to be another basic medium frame skill that leads to the logistics skill? Or would it be better to just remove the basic frame skills altogether?

Edited original post to include these as well. Does 5% reduction per level sound good?

Is this something people are just not interested in?
Should I give it a better, catchy title? Suggestions?
If you support this, please give a like and/or a reply so I at least know that I came up with a decent idea.

Bump.
I don't know if this is hotfixable, but maybe we could see something like this in 1.10 or whatever we are going to call it?

I have a sneaking suspicion that most of the community would not enjoy that............
Could just be my imagination.........

Kierkegaard Soren wrote:All skills should feel like they're worth buying, regardless of what exactly they give you. Dead skills are a massive player retention killer, especially when you consider how hard it is for a casual player to grind out sp through playing. And the basic skills should have really strong rewards, too, so that new players can gain a competitive foothold in the game without having to horde vast amounts of sp.
Is the ISK reduction too small? Or should the bonus be something completely different?
If you have any suggestions please do share. Any idea that improves the game is a good idea.

Kierkegaard Soren wrote:I think we need to really look at the "core skills" as a whole again, because at the moment were asking new players to spend sp on dead skills like those mentioned and then even more on shield, armour and fitting skills just to be able to get away from being perpetually pubstomped. I wasn't even remotely competitive until I had around 7mil sp under my belt, and that's a hell of a grind. So. To remedy, we take these skills that give nothing and give them two or three bonuses per rank purchased; drop suit command could give shield and armour buffs to the tune of 3% per rank! and then the the shield and armour skills can be scaled back to a smaller bonuses. Essentially we need to give new players a competitive edge as quickly as possible, and then allow specialisation to give smaller and more focused benefits.
Interesting idea, I like the concept and practicality of it.
But for now I will stick by my idea of ISK reduction, simply because your idea would warrant another topic entirely. I leave the creation of said topic in your hands, if you choose to do so.

That makes sense, but I think we have passed the point of no return when it comes to adding tech II / changing tech I dropsuits.
My solution is a simple change (idk about the coding side of it) that will grant some incentive into skilling up the currently useless skills.

If you support this, please give a like and/or a reply so I at least know that I came up with a decent idea. its not that its not interesting or that it needs a catchy title. i just think its that players who know how eve works already have identified this as a problem and why and its been known for a long time and ccp just refuses to fix it. and new players who dont know any better havent really noticed it under the thought eh its just a prerequisite skill. just gotta unlock it to get the higher stuff..
Fair enough.

Time to bring this back after close to a month and a half of letting slip down the forum chain.
Please refrain from trying to compare this to Eve, I do not support comparing Eve and Dust, and that is not what this topic is about.
I simply want to know if the idea I proposed is something people would like to see in game, or if there is a better, alternative bonus we can add to the three(six if you include vehicles) skills I mentioned.
