Come get some. I suppose no showing 90% of the fights you think you can't win doesn't count as shying away.
Seriously you guys put up good fights when you decided to try, the issue was you not actually bothering to join the game, not how well you played.
Btw AE left on a high note having played a key role in defeating ERA and bringing anarchy back to at least half of MH, as well as giving ALL of our districts away to PC ready indie corps, not 7 months earlier when the melee exploit was fixed, not out of shame and defeat. We left because there was no one left that we didn't know we could beat, and fanfest only accelerated that process.
Also what did you continue to learn? That no showing serves no purpose when the corps you thought you could not beat all left? Good for you guys.

I never said I was good -- to the contrary, I know I'm not compared to many, and admit it freely. I only said I was a good leader and about as good of a player, relative to Rampage, and in my own eyes. Can you read?
IMO, you didn't "earn" anything -- and I lost plenty of clones and just as much sleep as anyone, and arguably over a much longer period. What separates us, if I may be so bold, is that I never jumped ship to the A team, but rather remained true to the core group of guys I met when I started playing this game. Call me what you wish, but I'm loyal like that.
Don't you have anything better to do than post on a forum for a game that you describe as a POS and admit not to play any more or care about?
Or do you secretly yearn for days gone by (after KEQ, I presume) when you had a place at the table playing this "POS game"?
I know what I believe, but please, tell me more of what you think. This is starting to become amusing. your comment, "Or maybe we just got better and the SP gap that was so prevalent then isn't as wide as it is now. And it's disappointing to me that we may never find out."..you were bad and now if you got better, that would at a minimum make you 'good'. Didn't earn anything? lol....sure thing pal..just as you have not. Not even respect. I never jumped ship to the A-team. There were 19 people in AE(no dot) when I went over. We had no corp wallet(except what was stolen from Hellstorm I think) and didn't own not one district. We fought for them which is something I know you are not familiar with. to be honest, no, I really don't have anything better to do between the hourse of 5am est-5pm est but post here. Work is that EASY. Sort of like PC against ML, but not quite that easy..see what I did there? I won't try and change your mind, believe what you wish. It's obvious that you were bored. You jumped on this like Roman on Kains ****. Again, good luck with this POS game.

It does count as shying away, cheater. It also counts towards preserving morale, which is primarily why we did it. Sometimes a retreat, as hard as it may be, is the right thing to do. It was not an easy decision.
The bottom line is you guys were clearly better than us, and our morale was suffering in losing over and over and over again to the same group of guys. So we made the decision to no show a few fights (I don't recall how many, perhaps you do), and bide our time.
And we are still one of the largest and longest lasting corps in this game -- we must be doing something right.

I've tried dissecting this post to understand what you are trying to say. You happened to get online for a match that we no showed and that's somehow an indictment of our actions in the 7 months since the Melee glitch was fixed?? I'm not able to connect the dots.
We are somehow less respected because we've stuck around and participated in the game while you guys took a break to watch anime or is that someone else?
Please provide me with some clarity.

I was calling out leadfoot on a statement about ML that is obviously not true. First he's saying ML will never shy away from a good fight, then he did a complete 180 and starts explaining how bowing away from a challenge is good for moral.
I don't hold no showing against you guys, but it's a little hilarious that he's trying boast about how ML was the steadfast underdog that will never back down when in reality you guys have a history of refusing to step up to recuperate, which in itself is a disappointing but understandable reality of how the effects of bad losses take it's toll and the best thing to swing back is to take a breath.
The last part of my post was about the fact that you guys rose to power recently, completely unrecognizable to the corp you used to be, was due to the fact that you no longer have corps around that can give you a heavy loss to cause you to no show.
You had the chance to improve because now there isn't as much of a disparity between you and the top corps as there used to be, and you can actually learn rather than get beat so bad that you have no idea how to improve due to deteriorating morale.
AE quit 7 months after the melee exploit fix, my point was AE quitting had nothing to do with the fix, that part isn't about ML |

Never had the best talent?? AE at its peak had more talent in their "B team" than most of the corps in pc at the time. AE started as the rest and the best talent outside of EoN. Best of HS, what was left of SI and IE, etc.
I'm not saying they weren't great leaders (I was never in a pc on their side) but AE definitely had more talent than any corp in the game at the time. Just to name a few off the top of my head....Kallente, Kujo, Soul, Roner, usuck, namob, Johnshepard, arirana, etc. If they weren't top tier, they were really competent players.

Let's not pull any punches.
ML long ago was among the first to lock, and wrote forum posts about how unfair it was AE was so strong and a blue donut of talent and essentially locked for profit to keep districts they knew they'd lose to AE.
They also hired anyone they surmised would fight AE competitively.
So no, ML was not always about the good fights. They were not always about showing up.
No one was perfect. AE locked up, FA locked up...everyone locked up.
The motivations may have been said to be different, bt the result was the same.
The only ones who didn't lock up got kicked out of PC (RND/OH/etc)
Props to RND they had more balls than anyone else.
ML have since transformed and changed.
But misrepresenting the past is something that irked Ari, and you can't blame him for that.
As for AE leaving because there was no one they didn't know they could beat?
Meh.
That's a whole different bag o beans.
As maruader said on a post in our once hallowed WR
"when FA had their a-team on (monday to friday) FA won the vast majority of the fights."
"when AE had our a-team on (weekends) AE won the vast majority of the fights."
or something like that. ;)
The three corps of NF, AE, and FA all tooks turns double penetrating the other 2.
AE got double penetrated and lost districts until they went to NF and paid them to be friends.
FA got double penetrated and lost 1/2 our **** in one night (cause FA fell to pieces when I wasn't there in those days) and then we kicked ass and didn't lose another match until we were invited to DNS and the plan to break the donut was begun and take revenge on NF. (then the choice was let AE take the districts or defend them and give them to NF...well you know what, I hope AE enjoyed them :P)
ERA got double penetrated and crumbled. Once they were faced with being double penetrated...they backslid and tried to paint the whole thing as "this was the plaaaaaaaaan, we wahwahwahwaaaaaanted to give it all away!" (uh huh...)

Ohh :) and RND (and maybe OH too but I wouldn't know for sure) was only relieved of pc due to inactivity. Anytime our activity went to complete ****, we would just let the districts go. Because, at the time, I wasn't into perpetual district locking. If we're only able to field 5 people for pcs, then we shouldn't be there.

It was the same for OH.
The winter war burned out their players.
AE simply had 2-3 teams to field during the war (they had everybody coming back the batphone was impeccable), and OH burned themselves out trying to keep up.

Except, cheater, I never said we "never shy away from a good fight". Those are your words, not mine.
Here's what I said:
"We didn't quit when our exploits were taken away. We didn't quit when we lost matches to those we considered ourselves superior to. We didn't quit when we driven out of MH. We didn't quit after fanfest. We didn't quit after Destiny. We continued to fight, we continued to learn, and here we stand."
And it is entirely accurate. We didn't quit. We are still here, and active to this day.
Now, you chose to take that comment and point to our no-showing some battles as proof we did quit. I contend no-showing battles is not quitting (what you described as a "complete 180"), but I can see how you might interpret it that way -- thus my clarification.
But you are right, we no-showed a few battles. I do not recall how many -- and I'm not sure what your "90%" is supposed to mean -- but I don't think it was many. Perhaps someone else does.
When you called me on it -- and described our no shows -- I admitted it and even told you why we did. I'm not here to mis-characterize anything. I'm not here to hide from the truth.
If you speak it, I will acknowledge it. If you don't, I will clarify my perspective.
Because I am proud of my friends and our team and our leadership and our accomplishments. We were never the best players in this game, and we make no illusions about our skills or accomplishments. However, I believe It is an accomplishment to have lasted this long in the face of adversity -- both in the form of other corps but also CCP.
How many people/corps can say the same?
