No, this isn't some FotM thread since i am pretty sure the minmitar assault is the new FotM (fetish of the month). Continuing: Caldari assault pros and cons:
Pros: Extremely high regeneration (up to 217 shield/second at 2.7 seconds delay) Extremely high shield tanking (up to 641 shield, check as i have not fully shield tanked my assault for a while) Reload speed of weapons Looks Great sniper suit (5 highs, 5 damage mods) Movement speed average when tanked
Cons: Weakness against shield weaponry Horrid 1v1 suit Unable to be logi'd
Amarr assault pros and cons:
Pros: High armor tank ability Able to be logi'd Shield weaponry bonus Damage mod ability Great 1v1 suit
Cons: Slow movement speed when tanked Horrid armor repairing ability Looks like a dinosaur
I brought out some pros and cons in case you missed some when you draw your conclusions. I think the caldari is the best...you?

Caldari's bonus is practically useless and IS useless in a combat scenario. That is something to take note of.

I use everything Caldari (Commando and Sentinel are next on my to-do list to obtain), but I have to say... Amarr is the better assault.
707 is the max shields you get with 5 complex shield extenders and max skills. 634 with 4 shield extenders and a recharger (614 with a complex energizer).
I love the aesthetic that Caldari gives, and the speed of shield tanking (I even add KinCats on some of my fits), however, when I get randomly fluxed... I cry.
The reload bonus only applies to rail weaponry, but it's rather lackluster. Especially when every commando can do the same.
And it actually is a great 1v1 suit if you are able to keep a certain distance.
If you worry about not being able to be repped by a logi, then shield ranking isn't for you. At most you should have a reactive plate if you think your innate reps aren't enough.
For an Assault ck.0, 3-4 shield extenders, 1-2 shield energizers/rechargers, and in the lows you should have 1-2 regulators, a ferroscale or reactive plate, and whatever else you want to fit in that last slot.
Amarr really is the gold standard of assaults. That's about all I can really comment on them. |

The only reason I see to spec into them, is if you like Caldari, the slot layout, and... that's it, really.
Their scouts are better assaults. They have higher shield regen, built in damps, more speed, smaller frame...
Commando has the Reload speed... for every weapon... well, every commando has them. |

Probably.
I don't run the cal assualt very often, and I've never used the Amarr Assault. FWIW, I mostly run Cal/Am Scout with an occasional Am Heavy or Gal Logi.
That said, I"m not sure how shield tanking helps you take out multiple people at once, unless you're staying far away from the action.

Depends on playstyle.
My Min Assault will gladly take on Amarr Assaults every day.
But Caldari? Dem shields yo. My Combat Rifle and Flaylock have sad faces against shields. I end up wasting a full CR clip to get shields to like 50 and then clean up with a flaylock.

Yup, Ghost, I can't disagree.
Playstyle (and weapon choice) has a great deal to do with all of our perception and which suit is the better choice.
That said, and FWIW, I seem to die to Min Assaults more than either Cal or Am. Dat speed and clip size is my undoing, typically. |

You could probably build an Amarr Assault to do the Passive Healing thing better than a Caldari Assault. 3 Complex Armor Repairers and 2 Feroscale gives you ~586 Armor and 28.13 Repair a second. That also doesn't slow them down. If you are going for the super fast repair rate, that seems like it could work. It also has the advantage of continuously Repairing if you take damage.

I love my cal assault, assault rail, bolt pistol, rechargers and regulators. Heaven
Once you train up reload speeds on both your chosen rail weapons...u can put enemies under constant pressure at all ranges Obviously excelling vs armour, one can also add dampners or biotics to help make a more hit 'n' fade style
I leave my sniping to my commando, carries that rail just in case....
All cal suits and weapons to 5
As for the amarr assault, big hp/rep tank, dmg mods, not to be discounted Though one more ammar assault shoots at me with a breach ar......!!!

I brought out some pros and cons in case you missed some when you draw your conclusions. I think the caldari is the best...you? these are the 2 proto assault suits that i run. i can tell hands down the amarr is deadly. i rep tank it with triple complex reps at 28hp/s and over 600 armor with 2 plates. its tuff as nails and with 2 complex damage mods on a proto scrambler rifle it rips scouts in half in the blink of an eye. caldari is crap cause rail rifle is crap.

When they are engaging you around cover...take one out with barely any health left, regenerate in 4 seconds then engage the other guy coming for you who has no cover (rail rifle OP in this situation) He dies and the last guy is at your flank a few seconds from you noticing you have no health left, almost...cocky he is, ramming straight after you then BOOM! RE kill, or you hide for long enough for your shield to regenerate then spray him with your sidearm.
The amarr assault would be dead by the time the last guy flanks him

I find both the caldari and amarr suits awesome.
They tend to have solid strengths and weaknesses. Honestly all of the assault suits are in a good place.
The caldari rail rifles hit hard enough that damage mods are a luxury, not a necessity so tanking that shield is viable.
Minmatar have an amazing level of flexibility.
Gallente hit like trucks and recover fast.
Amarr are just hard to kill.

main advantage of amarr assault is the ability to fit good tank along with 3 damage mods and proto weapons which theoratically allows you to terrorize people with 900 dps when using the ScR if you have a durable & fast trigger finger. the armor penalty is not as bad when you have 900 base dps.
it is also great against the now very common caldari scouts and sentinels with over 1k dps against shields. their shields are gone before they can even saw "wtf hit me"
downside is the overheat, hipfire spread and ADS kick which is significantly bigger than on the AR. it is something you have to get used to. |

have proto in both and they have their merits and flaws and it depends on your playstyle. personally i flick between the two depending on what majority of reddots are using. lot or CR/HMG/RR i'll use shield based, lasers and AR's i'll go armour. best suit i used on a proto amarr assault was 5 complex reactives, 3 complex DMs, proto assault scram, scramp pistol bpo, hive and grenade. great amount of hp, good reps and its still pretty mobile.
will update with my caldari but its mainly just complex extenders, a complex profile damp in the low, KK RR and bolt pistol, hive and flux nade. nothing that'd stand out and its just pure tank n gank
Never argue with an idiot. they bring you down to their level and beat you through experience
