After playing and using the commando I have some questions maybe you the players might have an answer or opinion. I use Armarr and Gal Commando not sure about Cal and Mim so the questions may not apply.
1. Why does the commando have the same hit box or build as a sentinel?
2. Why does the commando have near exact movement speed of the sentinel?
3. Why does the commando look like the sentinel minus the color?
4. Why does the Commando have so low of slots?
I like the Commando and love the play style but it irks me to see that the commando is too similar in stats to the sentinel. I thought the Commando was supposed to be the behind enemy lines dealing out crazy damage bad a** but instead it is the diet coke of sentinels and the only difference is less slots, two lights weapons vs heavy weapon and side arm, no grenade vs. no equipment. Still a fun toy just wish CCP would change a few things, increase speed by 10% you could use biotics but if your going to do that just run assault, the colors a nice grey camo, and three just give us 1 more slot on the high or low.
Can the other voices in other peoples minds hear my voices in my head????

The answer to all of these is really the same: they are heavy suits. The builds of each suit are based on the base frame. Logi suits look like Assault, just colored different as well.

Personally, I love the minmitar commando because I can compete with most assaults and scouts (I'm a carrier sentinel) and I can tell tanks and drop ships to bugger off with swarms without having to go to the supply depot. What a convenience.

Therefore, now I have adv, I put them to the command module or space over to the right ...
I have to say that the proto command with two boosters and a six kin damage and bk-42, nanocolmena allotek (R), a suppressor of complex issues and reactive armor plate is a murderer! The sentries fall that give taste, gunsmiths drop like flies if you do not get caught in the back ...
A Mi is the command that I like, now I carry with rocket launchers and battle rifle wirkoming bk-42.

I don't mind the slots, frame size, color, but why are they so damn slow?

Seeing as that is too late though, it would be interesting if commandos were the suits that were super damped, making them the slow but "invisible" killers, say it has a lot less armor due to how much stealth mumbo jumbos it has.
Even better, rename them something else, and then make a new light suit called commando. The "New commando" would be the suits having super damps, and the Scouts we have now would be the ones with super scans.
But this is all probably just a bad idea as I just thought it all up.

Pardon my ignorance, but when were Logis a heavy frame? I've been here since day one of open beta, and all I remember is one Min Logi, and it had 120 shields and 150 armor.
To the OP, Commandos are a great point defense and AV suit. I personally have more fun running Commando than any other suit in the game. Yeah, they have like zero slots, a huge hitbox and no speed, but dat Alpha damage...

Well, they always "Looked" the same and had roughly the same stats, but they were classed as "Heavies" according to the devs at that time, iirc, and in the "fluff" to explain the slow movement and large amount of equipment. I could be completely and horribly wrong ofc, as I've been here since the start of closed beta, which was a damn long time ago.
