Honestly, amazing. These new maps and sockets have breathed new life into dust. Just got out of a game on shatter road (I think? The one with the central spire and the long pipes leading to each spawn.) I came in late all we had was B. Now B on this map is usually the landing pads with the roof that everyone drops links on but this socket completely changed the game. B panel was in what I have now dubbed the control room, a squad heavies logistics assaults and a commando with a shot gun were holding the room, there were only two ways in, the central door and this shoot that lead in from the back. The control room was lower than typical elevation with a road leading down to the control rooms main door. I spawned up top into a sh-ít storm of reds. Of the 5 or so of us up there only two of us survived that push. I was in my std cal assault with RR and magsec, he was a speed tanked min assault with a combat rifle. The enemy were pushing hard, a good 90% of their force was there and they had armor support. While I was spawning in I saw we had a few teams going to D and C, the only way we were going to win was to hold B at any cost.
While the control room team (CRT) fought off wave after wave of enemy my new minmatar friend and I began a skirmishing campaign on top of the control room on ground level. Desperately trying to root out the enemy links and disrupt them before they ready them selves for an assault on the control room. Our primary target was the logies, without them they couldn't mount a push with their heavies, the ash and dust was thick (awesome mood) so we moved around engaging what we could. We held off a few assaults before they began taking down logi and heavy groups from the flanks. Our putter point teams succeeded in capturing C and D and the enemy was still fixed on taking the control room of B.
Eventually the raid teams prepping to assault the control room started to hunt us down. My minmatar friend was fast enough to move cover to cover though I was struggling to keep up and out maneuver the squads of enemies. Eventually they called an orbital on us, we both survived but barley so. Eventually we were cornered by the null cannon sitting on top of the B complex. Three heavies two logis and a few assaults. We managed to kill a few heavies and a logi but we knew we were done, my minmatar friend gave me one last look before he bolted into the thick ash. I was okay with this, better to have one survive up top than to loose the position all together. We needed as much time as we could buy.
The enemy advance we had tried to hold off was finally at the main door. A desperate gun battle ensued resulting in a stalemate. Then calm, the calm before the storm, I took a second to look at my map, we still had 3 of 4 points, MCC damage was equal and very low into armor, our clone counts both rested at 51. Then a massive push came, HMG's, mass drivers, a rail tank, shot gun scouts, logis and assaults charged into the breach. The main door became a meat grinder with the CRT fighting tooth and nail for every inch. After the worst of it was over we pushed out the door and killed the remnants of the aenemies assault. We now had a lead on clones but both our MCCs were down to a couple barks of health. We had done our job, now it was up to the away teams.
With half a bar left on our MCC we won, and I collected my 1.7mil isk and 8756 sp. Felt good man, felt really good.
