In the game it should have the time also, I have played this game for almost 3 years and my rank is 6, I am the number 47 or so in kills, not bad in wp and NY win/l ratio sux cus I always play solo, but common 3 years playing and rank 6 is a joke for me, after all that rank seems to be more of who spends more money in the game (also is a way of loyalty) but the time that 1 play the game also is loyalty, to me this rank thing is just a joke as Radar rad(Oh) said. Just my opinion.
P.s with the last crazy pay out of isk it was really good, without I don't really care about my rank. Lol

agree with u, i better get aurum if i want a better rank, instead of playing the game.

Ur main character doesn't really matter how many things have done, I have like 114k kills that's place 45 in global and also have a lot of war points,... Badly my rank 6, I haven't bought too much aurum as many others just like 40 dollars, but also, I'm way higher in the killboard and some of the (beginning of 2012) older players, helped ccp with the data minings so they can balance weapons, suits and stuff like that. So yeah 85% aurum 15% who u really are, so if someone else haven't bought aurum and is rank 6 feel proud because u are a good player. If u have higher yeah u have paid a good amount of money. Any1 can get a good rank just by paying money.

Ccp Rattati already said that "he doesn't want ppl with 3 officer weapons and no cents invested in the game to have a higher rank" i am rank 6 (i never cared about ranks) I have 3 officer weapons have killed and played this game almost every day for 3 years, but I'm not allow to have a higher rank because I haven't spent the amount of cash that ccp wants to tell me that I'm loyal. :) (3 years and not loyal seems fair) lol
