6/30/12. I started in the E3 build as I recall when vehicles were being tested and were free for everyone. It was a good time to be a dropship pilot.
P.S. I found an online article stating the beta was open to those that purchased the merc pack so I bought it. It was very exciting loading the game for the first time even though you could only play a few days per week. This is still my go to game over 2 years later.

Yeah Dustboard isn't cutting it. It's showing January 10, 2013 for me. That was the first day of Chromosome.....
PSN says 9/30/2012.
September 30, 2012..... huh. That can't be right. I recall playing before then. *scratch head*
I remember playing during Mordu's Private Trials... But wasn't September during Precursor??

May 18th 2012 (even though I remembered April, apparently wrong).
I have been wondering if there are still some of those True Dinosaurs walking amongst us: those who got randomly invited to get the very first beta keys during December 2011.
Assuming honest post, Alex would be one of those. All bow down! Orz
December 2011 is the first time to my knowledge CCP accepted any outsiders to Dust. Man, I was so evious of those... Tried all the tickets etc...
There was a survey for eve players in November 2011 asking console-related questions. My tinfoil theory for me not getting an inv was that I was too heavy Eve user they didn't want to disturb with consoles. Oh and I did not have PS3 at that time, only bought it two months later in anticipation of Dust.

I know one of the guys invited to the December release of the closed beta - but there were only a very small number of them. He doesn't play anymore preferring to stick with Eve.

That's exactly the reason why I think they are extremely rare. They are/were first of all loyal Eve players.

EDIT: confirmed via PSN Store actual purchase date (and yes I logged in that same day for the first time). Back then I was known just as "Forlorn" because I created the character without a last name by mistake.
EDIT: new leader is ResistanceGTA born April 18, 2012 (though I do believe that his real character is something other than "ResistanceGTA" as this is clearly an alt).
Nova Knife, though he doesn't visit the forums any more. I feel pretty confident in saying that. And I wouldn't doubt that Logibro had a similar experience.

Agreed 100%. He has actually been playing Eve since it was released! Yes, for over 11 years now... I've played Eve off and on for about 7 years, though I am unsubbed at the moment. I run 4 accounts and don't use plex. Well, I'm trying to get out of debt and $60/month helps pay off debt quite a bit so... I guess I just mean I'm about 16 months from playing Eve again lol

Given that nova knives didn't exist in game when it was first opened for closed beta, I would say it is definitely possible there are plenty of older characters.

That's a very strange line of reasoning. Nova had the name before they ever put the knives in, since that was in the latter half of 2012 as I recall.
Nova, Grideris (CCP Logibro), and whoever CCP Frame was before he was hired all three ran some of the oldest Dust fansites, we're talking these things started in 2009 kind of thing. I'm pretty sure they managed to worm their way into the 2011 friends-and-family alphas, though none of them are on hand where they will answer so take that as you will.

Very interesting. What you say is possible, but then that would mean they named an ingame weapon after her, and I've never seen anything to that effect. I would think that would be a huge marketing thing for CCP and they would have made an announcement to that effect.
I don't doubt you, but is it possible that Nova renamed her account after they were released? We had a complete character wipe in July that year as well - including having to create brand new characters. Actually, we had to do that every month for the first few months, as I recall.
Also, a website can be renamed as well. Just thoughts. Until Nova posts here though, it's all speculation.

Just logging in doesn't count. Playing counts.
If you remember a certain heavy going toe to toe with a tank, you are old. If you remember the best way to kill someone being tricking them into walking up stairs while looking at said stairs so they fall through the map, you are old. If you remember unlocking objectives, you are old. If you remember BPOs being 35 Aur, you are 'kind' old. If you remember MCCs moving, you are old. If you remember being able to kill an MCC with a rail turret, you are old. If you remember buying Aur JUST so that you can get a Universal Translator and talk to everyone in chat rooms, you are old. If you remember the damage bonus from Light Weapon bonus skill giving your passive damage bonuses PLUS access to damage mods, you are old. If you remember "kitten," you are old.
If you remember corps having corp duels and putting up prize bets, you are old and annoyed at not doing that anymore.
That's what an old vet is. Making a clone and letting it sit gaining passive doesn't count <.<

Yes to all of the above. You've left out the fun bugs that we used to have.
Dumb fire swarms fired at your feet. Endless vehicle spawns. White screen scope on SMG's impossible to see through. Killing DS with an HMG (not really a bug, it was a thing) Hearing enemy comms, but talking to your allies. Hearing enemy comms, and talking to your enemies. Sound effect from interia dampeners following you the entire match announcing to everyone you were there.
And dozens more that have been rehashed time and again on these forums that I no longer remember.

Originally, they weren't a sidearm, they were the weapon used for melee. Everyone had NKs automatically, and there was the Hand-to-Hand skill that increased melee/Nova Knife damage and gave access to Myofibril Stimulant modules. When you got a melee kill, it was listed on the kill feed as "Nova Knives"
Also, Nova Knives were mentioned in some of the very early articles about Dust, and on the original Dust 514 website. I believe it was even before the select few Eve players got beta access. |

I logged in the first day of the closed beta, the very first day of when we were able to play dust. Assuming you were an Eve player, then your log in date is the same as mine, as I also logged in the first day possible. That said, there were some earlier before it was opened to a lot of Eve players, so you might be one of those. When, exactly, did you first log in? I think mine is messed up? January 2013...I remember logging in when it was 2012...I have the closed beta day one pass on my account... I don't think it tracks that far
