Will they honestly ever be coming ? Given the fact of :
A) They are probably one of the easiest suits to make, a scout suit with only a sidearm and bonuses affecting things such as RoF, Cool-down Time, Maneuverability.
and
B) You honestly almost never survive when your ADS goes down, due to getting crushed in Mid-air.
If they do come, would you make it to where you can only operate a vehicle with a Pilot suit ? Exception being an LAV. I think most of you would agree a Heavy or Tanked out Forger popping out of a tank or ADS is a no-no ?
I wouldn't even make it to a suit where you would get it to Proto due to it not being worth anything, maybe a cheap ISK proto. But I'd like to see it at ADV only or Basic.
The bonuses can be anything really I can care less. Such as:
For ADS: A) Maneuverability B) RoF Increase B) Cool-down Reduction C) Afterburner Bonuses
For Tanks: A) Hardener Bonuses B) Shield Booster Bonuses C) Cool-down Bonuses D) Dispersion Decrease E) Cool-down Reduction
[*] Also If and when they put in the Racial vehicles, this will add Racial Pilot suits. The only ones we could have now are Gallente & Caldari. I think it would be interesting to see Racial vehicles with Racial Pilot suits together & There would be no getting around this or exploits.

They won't be coming out in the foreseeable future.
I'm sure CCP has some better use of their tme, and I also fail to see how using a pilot suit would prevent you from being dying.
No, but there should be a distinct difference between a vehicle with a pilot suit pilot and one without.
This problem is a lot bigger that people are making it out to be. First of all, CCP needs to consider how the introduction of the suits will effect the game, giving them bonuses that make them worthwhile while also keeping them balance. The will also require some vehicle NERFS to make un-pilot-suit-ed vehicles less effective.
Also, there needs to be a way to encourage the use of higher tiered suits. If they just got a straight bonus, then no pilot would use PRO or even ADV suits. Eventually, I'd like the idea of vehicle link mods, or dropsuit mods that affect vehicle stats, that can only be (effectively) fit onto a pilot suit. That way, higher tier suits can fit more links. If they had to come out tomorrow, though, I'd just give them an equipment slot every level or something.
Bonuses would also have to apply to every vehicle to some significant degree, perhaps turrets as well.
So this is still a ways away. Personally, I'd rather see some current chemicals fixes, reintroduction of some old vehicle moss and vehicle classes, and vehicle racial parody before pilot suits.

A Pilot suit would not keep you from dying. the Pilot Suit is only there as I am seeing it is to use your Vehicles, hence not being able to operate a Vehicle without the Desired Pilot suit and also to stop Heavies or AV pooping out of a Vehicle. The Only vehicle not needing a Pilot Suit would have to be the LAV. This, I just thought of would stop another problem, which is vehicles being stolen such as an ADS, DS or Tank.

If they had to come out tomorrow, though, I'd just give them an equipment slot every tier or something. pilotsuit modules? Pretty much. They'd be a good way to encourage the use of higher tiered pilot suits, make vehicles more customizable, and give vehicles with pilot suits in them an edge over those that don't.
Fitting-wise, they'd be like cloaks whereas they'd have a very high fitting requirement and pilot suits got a bonus to fitting them (hopefully innate rather than per level). Each pilot suit would get more slots per tier, thus encouraging the use of higher tiered (and more expensive) suits. The links could be also be assigned to highs and low based on current convention (i.e. shields in highs, armor in lows, etc, and Cal would get more high slots, etc.)
Basically they'd boost a certain aspect of a vehicle (armor amount, shield repair rate, delay bonus, speed, etc.) by a % (with stacking penalties) (of course, current vehicles would need a nerf for balance, but I'd rather see a whole vehicle rebalance anyway). You could customize not only your vehicle, but the suit you're in, to give you an edge, and will also give more skills to train for pilots.
Lore-wise, it can be stated that they give an enhanced neural connection to the vehicle, increase the pilot's tolerance for the stresses inside, etc.

The problem with this idea is that it will require overhauling all of the bonuses of all of the vehicles that can be affected by the suits so that balance is maintained. This is because the vehicle bonuses we see today have been balanced under current conditions. I don't think they were balanced with suits affecting them later on in mind.
So if we seriously want pilot suits affecting vehicles, which I'm ok with as well, then everyone here is in for a long wait.

The vehicles we see today havn't been balanced at all, they're absolutely ******. The pilot suit could be added if CCP were actually capable of creating some sort of balance, but they listen to whining scrubs on the forums too much which results in stupidly ridiculous unbalance. |

And at no point should the Pilot suit convey the core bonuses that the hull itself should. The Pilot suit could simply be a role affirming restriction for pilots that ensures that they are dedicated to their role while in the suit and are combat ineffective while out the vehicle.
