TEBOW BAGGINS wrote:when did ADS start sharing tacnet info with the pilot's dropsuit? i thought dropsuit ewar had no effect on the dropship tacnet.. It doesn't. I've done some pretty extensive testing myself. People only believe it does because dropships have a base scan radius of 50m.
It doesn't matter what your dropsuit scan range or precision is, It is *immediately* replaced by the stats of whatever vehicle you are in once you enter that vehicle. Did a lot of testing with a few friends, Myself being a cal scout 5, a friend being a gal scout 5, and others not having any skills in ewar.

Take a look at the dropship stats - it has a base scan radius of 50m, that can lead to some confusion as to where your ewar is coming from, but I guarantee you its not your dropsuit. Derriths right, it does work. I always fit them to my Pilot suits and am hardly ever hit by Rammers. If I am its because I wasnt paying attention to it, and thats maybe 1/30 times. I've seen as far as the outer ring.
Take a look at the stats of a dropship. Unlike most suits and vehicles which have 10m scan range dropships have 50m radius.
Python: air speed 50m/s scan profile 150db, scan precision 50db, scan radius 50m.
These numbers overwrite your dropsuit values, there's even a simple way to test it - use as many precision amps as possible on a light frame and get a friend on the enemy team to also be a light frame (undamped), face away from them but still be within 20m (without skills) - you'll still see your 'enemy' friend, then get in your dropship and go into first person mode - you won't pick up your hostile friend unless they walk through your field of view.
As long as you're not perfectly still it's near impossible to be hit by a rammer.

I hate this 'it works for me' crap. The information you are spreading is FACTUALLY INCORRECT you do people a disservice by trying to tell them it is anything other than wrong.
I tested this theory way back in 1.6 because I myself wondered if I could use the caldari scout inside a tank or dropship to get the effect of an even higher precision active scanner *permanently* and all the testing the people I wrangled up and myself amounted to 'no you do not get the benefit of whatever ewar your dropsuit has while in a vehicle, the vehicle overwrites your ewar stats'. It doesn't matter what vehicle or what spot you're in on it, you do not get your dropsuits ewar benefit. Ever.
Now if you want to use an amarr logi for uplinks go ahead, if you want to use a damped / range amped / precision amped scout so you don't get jumped while calling in a vehicle that's great, but that's an entirely different case from trying to say that 'scout range and precision applies while you're in a vehicle'. If that were the case all tankers would be amarr or caldari scouts.
