Rooftop camping. This is ridiculous, it ruins tactical gameplay by turning it into a race for whoever can fly a MLT dropship there first, and do it without accidentally falling off before you place a link. Spamming. People were discussing the idea behind this thread a while ago, and someone said you shouldn't be able to just drop uplinks everywhere and then switch suits or die, while the uplinks stay there. Your uplinks should explode when your clone is terminated or you change that suit at a supply depot. This will both promote the use of Logis on the battlefield and make the entire flow of battle more tactic-oriented. Uplinks should also have a resupply function similar to remote explosives.
I really think this is important to the Dust experience. TL;DR is at bottom.
in 1.9 with revamped MCRU this idea could be applied to and blown out of proportion by 1. a tank with an MCRU 2. a DS with an MCRU or 3. ADS with an MCRU.
see the correlation? uplinks are beyond vulnerable and are just asking to be popped, where as MCRU are like an armored uplink with like 4k+ hp and are immune to scouts.
now about the roofcamping.. ADS, snipers on high ground, MD, or even orbitals.. oh.. wait.. sorry orbital cost was nerfed to hell so we cant use them to clear roofs anymore.. so id say change WP cost of OB to 3750(old cost but updated for 6 man squad) or 4000wp.. means OB will be more frequant but not stupidly frequant like they were before the cost nerf that way you can have an OB ready to clean the scum off the roof.. problem solved.
its stupid how vets whined about OB cost and it got changed.. and then they whined about roof campers.. of which was one of the main uses for orbitals was killing the campers.
before the cost nerf battles did feel more frantic and exciting and like a battle should (granted it was somewhat balanced), the panicked rush to get back into position or push while the enemy regrouped to try take hold again.
*sigh*rant over.. back to uplinks, they are useful but fragile, i only ever use 2 or 3 (mainly 2) 1 is the "hotzone" primary drop, the secondary one is a "fallback" so if primary gets popped and we get pushed back we dont get pushed all the way back into a CRU camp-fest or back to spawn to subsequently get redline camped.
now as for uplink spam im somewhat on your side.. the spam needs to stop, maybe limit "max active" uplinks to 3 regardless of metalevel so you can have 1 standard+2adv or 1 adv(1 spare)+2adv.. or at proto.. you could have 3 active(forget the names) or fit with dual "fast" spawning ones so you can drop 2+1 and have 1 spare if one gets popped.. because having.. i think 12 active or something stupid was just too much.
however they should NOT explode when the suit dies as primarly its Logi suit users who drop uplinks and logi suits are squishy as all hell, so counter argument to that could be focus logi and uplinks go poof meaning you can push.. BUT even just being a logi now its even if you spawn at base you can feel all the hostile sights suddenly aiming in your direction.
TL;DR - lower OB cost to counter Roof campers and increase fun/excitment. - nerf uplinks to "max active" of 3 regardless of metalevel (lowers spamming) - uplinks should NOT explode on suit death - MCRUs will be the bigger problem in 1.9 as they will be mobile uplinks with like 5k+ EHP and virtually "unkillable" (depending on fitting/pilot skills)
