I really don't want to defend scouts, but giving everyone the ability to see everyone on their radars just because people have problems dealing with shotgun scouts must not be the solution.
Also, if we buff dampeners and you use those on your Medium suit, which means that the scout can't see you through walls anymore, it will be much harder for the shotgun scout to sneak up on you, because he then too has to rely solely on his eyes, just like you do.
Yes I agree that its a combination of qualities. Specifically the massive damage output of the shotgun at close range, and the speed of a scout suit combined with invisibility (both from damps and cloak) that makes it trivial to achieve the close range. So the combination needs to be broken somehow. We cant nerf shotgun because the damn thing sucks on its own, cloaks are kind of crappy without dampening, so that leaves dampening, which is uncounterable in this game as it is now.
There needs to be a real mechanics based counter to this. Anyone who says you should just be 100% 24/7 360 degree aware of everything around you is just insane, ignorant, or dishonest, and just letting shotgun scouts blap people in 2 hits without any chance of fighting back is just as ridiculous.
Ive made a few suggestions about fixing this, including making scanning less binary so that the range you scan someone at is dependent on how much precision you have and how much dampening the target has, where high dampening vs. high precision would still result in a 15-20m scan zone (enough space to give you some warning when a damped shotgunner shows up but not enough to make it impossible for them to close distance), also a scan intensifier module that would both increase precision and decrease scan range for low slots, which would do about the same as the above.
