I am honestly blown away by how many people are circle jerking about how this a good thing. I'm not so worried about the raised cap (which would require over 25 hours on average to cap rather than the current 12, great) than I am about the triple stacked boosters
Omegas aren't cheap, and most people can't play very long. Average joe who can't play much more than 12 hours a week and refuses to pay CCP will not make much more sp, probably between 300-400k, while a dude with money who isn't afraid to spend it gets 3 mil a week. This isn't closing the gap between noobs and vets, it's creating a new one between the casual frugal players and the hardcore no lifers. But you are all the latter anyway, you'll just see this post and laugh.
I'm mad because I'm an average joe, I got where I am through the long grind with very few boosters, now I can no longer play as much. Now it takes much longer to cap, and and if you're not paying you're not as versatile as the next guy.
Anyway I said my piece, feel free to slap me to the ground and circle jerk over my limp body, this is blasphemy and Ratatti is god |

Behind the slight rant, this: "This isn't closing the gap between noobs and vets, it's creating a new one between the casual frugal players and the hardcore no lifers."
is quite spot on.

The gap is wider than it is tall.
I already have max core skills, so the extra SP will only go into different gear. Players who haven't capped their core skills, will now catch up to me even faster, because i've stopped growing. |

I never said I was that upset about no lifing, I don't smile at it either. Someone wants to develop an addiction that's their deal. It's mostly the pay to win that increases the appeal of no lifing about 10 fold that has me raising my pitchfork. |

Not necessarily pay to win if you think about it. Core skills are what we all aim for. Those who max out these skill books are very powerful players assuming they have a shred of decent gun game. If you have maxed cores but suck royally, then you are not that powerful at all. But at the same time, once you max out the core skills and any one specialty you started off with, any extra SP after that becomes less of an upgrade and more of a sidegrade. You then realize you're not getting any better with more SP after that. You're just becoming more flexible.
For a long time now I have maxed out all skill books related to -- and complimenting -- my Minmatar Scout. I have recently managed to train up the rest of the racial scouts but I didn't get any better after maxing out my Minscout. I became more flexible, but not better.

It's not about advantage now that I realise the issue.
Hell I'll beat players down with 2x my SP reasonably regularly..... but a new player can pay to earn my 30,000,000 SP in 2 1/2 months..... I spent 12 months grinding that out. I toughed it out against players with Million more SP than I did (True Adamance was my 5th character by that point).
Now they are being given SP by the bucket load.......
I'm sure you can see why this is upsetting and why if this happened in EVE there'd be riots in Jita.

The thing with Eve Online is that SP is 100% passive as long as you have a skill book training in the queue. You can't earn any extra SP and almost every Capsuleer knows that SP in Eve is never a measure of experience.

I'm not so worried about the raised cap (which would require over 25 hours on average to cap rather than the current 12, great) than I am about the triple stacked boosters CCP stated that the SP gained per match will be increased and the "Loyalty Ranks" system will increase how much SP you get per match as well. We don't know for sure as we don't have the numbers, but one can assume that with these SP/match increases the TTC (time to cap) will remain the same as it is now.
Porkchop Samitches wrote:Omegas aren't cheap, and most people can't play very long.
Assuming my first assumption is correct, you'll still make the 750k/week. Though even if you didn't, you'll still benefit in the sense that you'll earn more SP than you did previously.
As for earning 3m SP per week, once you finish up your Core Skills and Preferred Suit & Weapon it really doesn't matter how much SP you acquire. it won't help you win a fight against someone, but simply increase the amount of options you have during the fight.
For example, let's take Average Joe. Since Joe doesn't purchase AUR for Boosters, he only has access to an Amarr Commando. No-Life Nancy on the other hand, generously spends AUR on SP Boosters so she has access to both an Amarr and a Minmatar Commando.
While No-Life Nancy may have more things, Average Joe is still perfectly capable of killing her. In a confrontation, Joe & Nancy's chances of winning rely on variables which aren't affected by their Bank Accounts.
It is closing the gap between new & veteran players. Since everyone gets 750k SP a week, the time it takes to invest into Core Skills (the only things that give you a blatant advantage over new players) is being reduced by 410%.
---
Not only that, but since more people have Core Skills, they'll be able to put up a better fight, which will eventually lead to more balanced matches, as opposed to a 1-sided stopmfest all the time,.
The above will also increase Player Retention, as most people quit b/c they're tired of getting stomped by players who have things such as +50% HP and +15% Damage while they're stuck with a Starter Fit..

Anyway I said my piece, feel free to slap me to the ground and circle jerk over my limp body, this is blasphemy and Ratatti is god You shouldn't be mad, you should be happy. Since you can't play as much as you used to, the increased SP/match will mean that you will be able to earn more SP than before, at an even faster rate.

Core skills are a smart mans sp sink, and I have them maxed already. I am not afraid of other people acquiring them, but I doubt everyone is willing to pay and play THAT much, even then only people who are interested in becoming a jack of all trades. Like I said before, the problem isn't noobs catching up, most of them are not going to invest this much.
The problem is that most noobs won't catch up, that top 1% that bullies everyone else is going to become that top 35%, overall pushing out any new players who aren't willing to sell their soul entirely right away, and relatively new players that haven't achieved that level yet and also don't plan on selling their souls. While in Dust you can effectively now purchase.
Don't get me wrong. I don't care about players catching up. I care about players having this "Handed" to them.....difficulty..... the struggle for SP, etc..... that's gone now.

CCP has quite clearly thrown their original vision to the wind and it's just about the cash now. There is no other reason to allow stacked boosters or increase the SP cap per week other than to entice sales.
This was clearly a marketing decision.

I sense it has more to do with the CCP's realization that Dust is never going to have a true secondary market like Eve Online does and it won't be impacting Eve anymore than what it already can. Knowing that, I can see why CCP went this route for Dust. Might as well make it a little more profitable while Project Legion is still in development.
